Buah Sirsak, Pembunuh Kanker

Buah Sirsak, Pembunuh Kanker

Tapi… kisah Graviola hampir berakhir disini.Kenapa?

Apa SCAM?

Apakah Skim Cepat Kaya?

Aktiviti Pengambilan Deposit Secara Haram

Percayalah kata saya… hendak menjadi jutawan amat susah.

Boycott Pizza Hut Malaysia

Hello everyone. I have some interesting news.
I was in Pizza Hut (Sunway Pyramid) yesterday and suddenly my friend showed me the bill.
The bill contains normal things la (number of person, bill. number and what is ordered). But, what shocked me is that they had space called ' RACE ' .I guess since we were all wearing tudung, they labelled us as 0, which means MALAY. Later, when we went to pay…we had no service charge and no tax charge.
Still in shock, I peeped into another bill in the counter. In that bill, under the race space, it was labelled as C (which I guess means Chinese). That bill had service and tax charges!!!
I started investigating. One of my Sri Lankan friends was labelled as Indian it seems and she also had to pay service and tax charges a few weeks back. What I ' m wondering is that…does anyone know about this? I find it rather strange that they charge service and tax charge using racein Pizza Hut, out of all the places!
WE SHOULD NOT GO EAT AT PIZZA HUT!

Inside Indian Heaven

Inside Indian Heaven

An Indian man died and went to heaven. When he arrived at the heaven Gate Siva the God said, 'Come on in. I'll show you around. You'll like it here.'

Walking through the gates, the man noticed clocks everywhere. There were grandfather clocks, wall clocks, watches, and clocks in every corner.

It appeared that heaven was nothing more than a giant clock warehouse.

Surprised at how heaven looked, the man asked, 'God Siva, what's the deal? Why are all these clocks here in heaven?¨ God Siva replied, 'The clocks keep track of things on earth. There is one clock for each person.

Every time the person on earth tells a lie, his clock moves one minute.'

'For instance, this clock is for VK Lingam, the lawyer.
If you watch it closely, it will move.

'Click' The minute hand on VK Lingam's clock moved one minute.

'Click' It moved another minute. ' VK Lingam must be with some judges right now.' said God Siva. ' The minute hand on his clock moves all day.'

'Why the minute hand suddenly jumps three times?' God Siva smiles and said ' He must have just said 'correct, correct, correct !'. I see it jumps like that quite often.

The man and God Siva continued walking. Soon, they came to a strange looking clock with some springs sticking out. Siva said ' Oh ! That is Paul Augustine 's clock. During the Anwar's trial, the clock spinned so fast and the springs came out each time he said 'irrelevant and irrelevant'. Now it is moving quite smoothly'.

The man and God Siva continued their walk . They came to a clock with cobwebs on the minute hand. 'Whose clock is this?' asked the man.

That clock belongs to the Lawyer Karpal Singh. He is one of the finest, God-fearing, people on earth. I bet his clock hasn't moved in a year or two.'

They continued walking and touring heaven. The man enjoyed watching the clocks of all his friends. When the tour was finished, the man said, 'I've seen everyone's clock but Mr.Samy Vellu's. Where is his clock?

God Siva smiled, 'Just look up. We use his clock as a ceiling fan. That's why it is so cooling here. '?

Taxi Driver Assaulted and Raped 17-Year-Old

Taxi Driver Assaulted and Raped 17-Year-Old

10 May 2009
Subang Jaya

Another young woman was taken on a horror ride and raped by a taxi driver who was supposed to driver her from SS14 to SS15. The 17-year-old woman had hailed for the taxi on Thursday 3pm, but when she boarded the taxi, the driver drove her around Subang Jaya and Shah Alam.

When they reached near a condominium at Kelana Jaya, the taxi driver forced the woman to undress. As she was taking off her clothes, she managed to call her friend using her mobile phone, whom she was supposed to meet at SS15. Fortunately, her friend was able to hear the commotion going on in the taxi.

The woman tried to give the taxi driver her mobile phone and money but he did not accept them. Then, the taxi driver assaulted her before stripping her clothes off. As the taxi’s windows were tinted, he proceeded to rape her without being detected.

The victim’s friend managed to contact the victim’s elder sister, who alerted a nearby police station.

At the end of the ordeal, the taxi driver dropped her off by the roadside and took off. The woman was brought to a hospital by a passer-by and had been confirmed that she was raped after a medical checkup. It is believed that the taxi driver had tattoos on both shoulders while one of them resembled a scorpion.

Malaysia: Tax policy plays major role in fiscal stimulus

Study: Tax measures represent 56% of the net effect

GOVERNMENTS around the world have introduced fiscal stimulus to counter the worldwide slowdown in growth.

The recent International Monetary Fund’s March 2009 World Economic Outlook (WEO) report has revised its projected world economic growth from 0.5% (January 2009 WEO update) to -1.3% for 2009, despite the determined and seemingly synchronised policy actions taken by governments around the world since the end of 2008.

In Malaysia, the Government has already announced two stimulus packages worth about RM67bil in November 2008 and in March 2009, on top of the National Budget 2009 allocation of RM206bil, announced in August 2008.

Most observers agree that these are not the last of the stimulus efforts that we will see before the global economy again finds firm footing.

Yet, many governments are already contending with increasing deficits as they launch these spending measures.

Inevitably governments will need to consider appropriate unwinding strategies to ensure a sustainable recovery over the long term.

It is therefore vital that businesses and tax functions actively assess and prepare for the changes that are taking place in these times.

As tax is one of the largest items on the income statement, stimulus policy measures or changes can present significant opportunities for cashflow improvement and enhanced earnings per share (EPS).

How well each company manages the challenges and opportunities in this volatile environment will undoubtedly shape its future direction and performance.

Ernst & Young recently completed a study entitled Worldwide fiscal stimulus – tax policy plays a major role: A guide to understanding opportunities and challenges in 24 key jurisdictions on the types of tax measures that have been implemented in 24 countries.

The study found strong emerging themes in the types of tax measures that have been used by various governments, for example there is an increasing use of accelerated tax depreciation programmes, carry-back provisions for losses, adjustments to tax rates, indirect tax changes and tax breaks for individuals. Tax measures play an important role in fiscal policies and, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Economic Outlook – Interim Report of March 31, 2009, tax measures represent 56% of the net effect fiscal stimulus on average among the OECD countries.

The recent tax measures, estimated at about RM3bil, adopted by the Malaysian Government under the second stimulus package, in March 2009 are consistent with this trend. The tax measures represented about 5% of the total RM60bil package, and included several non-conventional tax measures:

·The introduction of a broad-based carry-back of losses for 2009 and 2010, limited to RM100,000. This would potentially result in a reduced tax liability or a tax refund and would make cash available to businesses. This measure is appealing to governments because it focuses benefits on companies that have had a history of profitability.

· Accelerated capital allowance (full claim within two years) for plant and machinery and renovation and refurbishment expenditure incurred between March 10, 2009 and Dec 31, 2010. Although the renovation and refurbishment claim is capped at RM100,000, this is notable since such expenditure does not usually qualify.

· Double deduction for employers for remuneration paid to retrenched workers hired between March 10, 2009 and Dec 31, 2010, and limited to 12 months remuneration per employee.

· For individuals, a tax deduction on interest expenses on housing loans of up to RM10,000 for three years, and increasing the tax exemption on retrenchment benefits from RM6,000 to RM10,000 per year of service. These are in addition to the various tax reliefs for benefits-in-kind and perquisites promised in Budget 2009.

· Exemption of levy payments to the Human Resource Development Fund for six months for employers in the textile, electrical and electronics industries from Feb 1, 2009, and reduction of the levy payment rate from 1% to 0.5% for all employers for two years from April 1, 2009.

· Increase in the levy threshold of the windfall profit levy on oil palm fruit to RM2,500 per tonne for Peninsular Malaysia and RM3,000 per tonne for Sabah and Sarawak.

The Government also recently announced the deferral of the thin capitalisation rules which was introduced from Jan 1, 2009. This a positive move consistent with the trend of helping businesses ease their tax burden in these difficult times.

The Ernst & Young study found that governments use tax measures to benefit targeted groups. Likewise in Malaysia, the measures have targeted particular sectors, for example, housing, manufacturing and oil palm industries. The study also found that governments impose limitations in order to control the cost of the stimulus package, especially in the current environment of falling tax revenues. For example, in Britain, the carry-back period was extended from one year to three years but subject to a cap of £50,000, and in the United States and Japan the carry-back incentive was targeted at small and medium-scale enterprises. Similarly, the Malaysian measures also contain conditions.

Malaysia has not cut corporate tax rates, but perhaps this is understandable; rates have already dropped from 28% to 25% over the last three years. More importantly, there is a need to balance this with the Government’s ability to fund such a broad-based measure. It is estimated that a 1% reduction would cost about RM1bil, and unless the Government finds an alternative source of revenue, such as the goods and services tax at some appropriate time, the tax cut may not be entirely feasible.

PETRONAS Petrol Stations

PETRONAS Petrol Stations

GUNALAH PETRONAS DEMI UTK KEBAIKAN KITA BERSAMA .

=============================================================
Cuba anda baca email dibawah ini.Ini adalah email yg disebarkan oleh non-malay untuk memboikot malay or Islam ,actually email ni cuba disebarkan senyap2 tanpa pengetahuan kita, tapi ntah macamana seorg non-malay ni terfwdkan email ni kat seorg kwn kita. So after read this, tolong fwdkan kpd MALAY sahaja utk kebaikan kita.

Kawan-kawan semua, Ada sorang member saya terforward mail utk bangsa depa ni kat saya. So,sapa-sapa yang ada member kat petronas tu tolong la forwardkan email ni.

Tengokla,...'diaorang' tu tak puas lagi nak ambik hak kita di bumi kita ni....

Regards: hartini
=============================================================
Most of us are aware of the unofficial quota system employed by Petronas in awarding contracts, jobs and tenders..(for those who don't know a ridiculous 90% for bumi's and 10% percent to be shared by all other races!!!). However, it has come to our knowledge that from now on 100% of dealings with petronas must be by a bumi company (unless there are no bumi co's in specialized fields). All non-bumi contractors have been politely told not to waste their time.

Petronas fuel stations will from now on only be given to bumi's and for the existing non - bumi run petrol stations, their contracts will be nullified and given to bumis.. This from our national petroleum company.

Many non-bumis in the Klang Valley are now boycotting all petronas stations and all petronas products, and suggest the rest of you do the same as a silent protest.

please forward this mail to as many non bumis as possible.
===============================================================

Contoh kat industri perbankan.

(Al-Baqarah: 216)

Beyonce postpones Malaysia gig amid Islamist ire

Beyonce postpones Malaysia gig amid Islamist ire(Reuters)

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – U.S. pop star Beyonce has postponed a planned concert in Malaysia after the nation's opposition Islamist party raised concerns about her performance, citing moral issues, concert organizers said.

Foreign acts often draw protests by the Pan Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), whose youth wing forced Beyonce to cancel her 2007 concert in the mainly Muslim nation of 27 million people.

Malaysian entertainment company Marctensia said in a statement on its website that the Beyonce "I am..." concert, planned for October 25 as part of her world tour, would be postponed to a date yet to be announced.

"The postponement is solely (the) decision of the artiste and has nothing to do with other external reasons," the concert organizers said in the statement.

No further reason was given. Marctensia said a new date for the concert would be announced "shortly" and a statement from Beyonce's management would be released later this week.

PAS's youth wing also sought last year to prevent Canadian singer Avril Lavigne from performing in Malaysia.

Earlier this month, Malaysia initially banned Muslims from attending a concert by U.S. hip-hop band The Black Eyed Peas, which was sponsored by Guinness, one of the brands owned by the world's biggest spirits group, Diageo.

The ban was reversed, but a senior official said it was up to each individual's "better judgment" whether to attend the event.

Malaysia's image as a moderate Muslim country was hit when a woman caught drinking beer was sentenced recently to be caned.

Joint Tenancy (Malaysia) for your information

Dear friends,

I would like to share with you one recent article which i read and shocked me a lot...

It happens in west Malaysia , husband and wife and 1 son. Husband passed away due to accident, the husband had a RM50k joint saving accountwith wife, what happen is the wife / like most people think, when husband passed away, she would get the money automatically since it isjoint account.

But to her surprise, She could not withdraw even a single cent!!

Joint saving account is meant for convenience when spouse need it the most, but most people always assume once the otherholder dies, another half will get the money automatically which is very wrong.

I would like to share my opinion with all of you, you may take it as educational thoughts or as awareness. When one person dies, the other joint holder of the savings account will get the money automatically only if that particular bank practise 'JOINT TENANCY' -this terms means in the event one of the party dies, the other joint account holder gets the money automatically.

But unfortunately, not all the banks practice JOINT TENANCY. Some foreign banks practise but most local banks don’t practice.

If you want to be sure, just ask your bank if their policy on joint account is based on JOINT TENANCY, if it is yes, get a written confirmation.

Can u all imagine, when husband pass away, the wife is already suffering from emotional loss,
and not to mention, additional problem of having 'NO MONEY' although it is in join account.

Knowledge enlightens.

If you really wish to join, ask for a copy of their agreement and consult your lawyer BEFORE paying them. Bet you will NOT get a copy. Both collect monies from new members with MLM recruitment schemes and pay the old members like Sunshine Empire. You never know when they will run away.

2) Sunshine Empire - This licensed and legal Company has an impressive office at the ground level of KUB building along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, near Menara Public Bank and AmBank Building . They also have a showroom office at the ground level in the next building. 2 or 3 months ago, Singapore ’s Straits Times and The Paper published big news reminding their people to be careful and NOT to believe in them. Hope someone can put up the link or google for it.(As expected, they STOPPED paying back members now and all investors LOST their money).

Someone below has put a link to the Singapore news. In fact there are more to it. Although Singapore is investigating them, they did not stop their business as the business is legal and so far, no Singaporean have failed to receive their commissions as promised. Thus, the government cannot stop them yet.

The news published that the founder, director and group president is someone named James Phang but he is NOT the owner. Isn’t this quite strange ? At the end of the game, James Phang can just disappear from the Company easily and claimed that he was just “employed”.. Such trick always happened in scam businesses.

Now, the Company has STOPPED paying commissions and interests to members with the excuse that the Singapore government has freezed their bank account while under investigation. Do you think their boss will be so stupid to keep much monies in the bank to be freezed ? They are all transfered away. It’s just an excuses not to pay back to members and members are only paid “e-bonus-points” which is cashless. If they wish to convert to cash, they have to recruit new members to pay them cash and the recruiter less out trom the amount. So victims act like Vampires and “forced” to victimise other victims if they wish to get their monies back. And their victims will later transform to vampires and the scam carries on…..

3) MOBILWALLET - This Company owned by 2 young men, Stanley & Rey Gan, office in Queens Avenue Park has collect multi-millions the last 2 years. Claimed that they tied up with Telekoms, Utility Board payment like Water & Electricity bills, even Maybank got fooled by them. Advertisement Billboards everywhere. They STOPPED paying back their members few months ago and the members cannot do anything because they are made to sign an agreement unaware that they have to claims if the company stopped paying them by CHANGING terms and policies.

4) Water businesses - Oxygenated and alkaline water products - Some of these are bottled water and some are filters or equipment that claimed the trick.. One of the better known Company that sold “oxygen” water is SITO(supposed to stand for Selangor International Trading Organiszation and claimed Selangor State Government owned some share in it). The key person and founder is a Dato Robert Ong from Rawang but his name is no longer in the business now. Their products are sold for RM2 to RM3 for a 350ml bottle and now concentrating mostly in the Indian market. Their Chinese and Malays market are long gone since a year or 2 ago. Their customers are made to believe that their water has more oxygen and able to give miraculous effects for the body. Water is H2O, how to put more O into it ? Anyone knows how much oxygen do we breathe into our body everyday at FOC ? Latest news is that this SITO Company is going to create new label to market under a new Company since the SITO name has already gone bad. Someone informed that this Company is owing alot of money(due to refunds) to ex-stockists but just refuse to pay them.

(Latest news, SITO shifted to another place and their MLM business has closed but planning to start again with a different name, beware !!)Alkaline Products - Can anyone explain how it can work for the body ? The stomach’s gastric liquid is so acidic that water of any pH that goes through it will not make any difference.

5) Car Fuel Booster - K-Link, the famous scam MLM Company that sold the footpatch TAKARA, later the “cock-ring” and energy-card launched the patrol-saving pills last year. Got so hot that even grocery shops are selling for them. Recently many of these cars that used the pills are rushing to the workshops to clean the residual. Few months ago, another MLM Company launched a fuel booster gadget, claimed that saves up to 20% fuel, that is attached to the cigarette lighter. Started off well using binary plan but businese begin to fade now and most users find it NOT effective.

6) Perfumery Products(eg. Lampe Berger & Bel Air)(more details later). Lampe Berger is not so hot now in the neighbouring countries but there are still new victims every month in Malaysia . Must thanks to those who have contributed and kept the thread alive here in Kopitiam. Bel-Air have closed in Malaysia . LB is almost zero in Singapore . This perfumery product from France with over 100 years history is just bottles and fragrance(check the factory’s website) but the Company marketing them in Asia claimed “aromatheraphy” products. Hong Kong TVB aired a program that exposed their scam but their members claimed that HK’s TVB already apologised to them. Note that the biggest strenght in a MLM Scam is their members will go all way out to lie in order to defend for their Company. The reason is simple; these members fear that they will not be able to make their money back if the Company collapsed. Knowing that the Lampe Berger products are moving slow, they add a line of skincare products named Estebel, also claime to have over 100 years history in France.(Hardly anymore Chinese newcomers, they are now tapping the Malays in Malaysia)

7) Energy Products(eg. stone pendants, bracelets, mattress and pillows). They use all sorts of gimmicks and demonstration to make you into believing them.. They will do some tricks and demo to prove that these products really produce energy BUT is there any tricks in their demo ? So what if there really produce energy; is it good or strong enough to help the body ? The effect is actually PLACEBO which I will elaborate in a new thread soon.(more details later)

8) Hi-Tech products(names like bio-tech, nano-tech that claimed millions of dollars of research involved, eg Bio-Young and XKL few years ago). Most of these will claimed a professor behind them(even with name and picture of a person) or used words like “U.S.A. formula”, “German Technology” or “Nanotechnology” and no further details(more details later). If you ask for more details like the professor or factory’s address, the answer will be “trade secrets”.

9) Investment Schemes - SWISSCASH is the King of all. Swisscash is nearly over now but there are many similar and smaller ones that are still on.(Now, it’s closed or stopped paying back members) 10) GoldQuest - This Company that claimed to be HK-based started with some non-value gold-plated coins that are sold for over RM2,000 have several names and changed products several times. QuestVacation, QuestNet, etc. They have several offices in Amcorp Mall, PJ and their key person(in fact, the owner), a Malaysian Indian was arrested last year in Indonesia for having involved in a very big Phillipines scam. Most of their overseas offices are closed or inactive but their Malaysia business is still hot, with some “energy” products.(Can someone please provide a link which showed the news that their boss was involved in a big scam in Philippines and was arrested in last year ?)

11) Numerology & Fortune telling - A Company named Visible is using MLM to sell fortune telling classes using your birthday based on Numerology fortune telling. Prpspects will be told that they need to buy a certain “number” between 1 to 9 in the form of pendants or bracelets made of stainless steel and sold from RM600 to RM20,000. Customers, or rather victims are mostly females from rural areas. Very hot in Penang now and a number of spin-off Companies have started..

12) MJ-Life - This Company boost of a very big background with many many years of history which is NOT true. Their people or associates may be long in business but nothing to do with their MLM launched recently. Why do I consider it a scam or bad ? New members are told to pay a sum of money(up to RM1000) and you get NOTHING for it. You only get a membership can entitle you to enjoy all sorts of special price and discounts when you have medical check-ups in their centres.. They will claim all those check-ups cost more if done elsewhere. It’s not true. Only the naive and those new to medical check-ups will fall victims to them. Most members who paid the money ended up with nothing.

13) Seaweed Venture Scams - One such Company is located in Taman Maluri, Cheras. They will ask you to invest a few thousands ringgits for their venture of growing seaweeds in East Malaysia and you are guaranteed returns. To gain your confidence further, they will tell you your investment money is secured by “insurance” or “unit trusts” & “trustees”. When you ask for further documents to prove, they will give all sorts of excuses or just ignore you because they know they cannot get you. These Seaweed scam is one of the hottest now, warn all your friends about it before they are victimised.

14) MXM(previously MGM) - This is a master scam among the younger group, very successful 2 or 3 years ago but since there moved to their big 10-storey office at Phileo Damansara and changed name to MXM, their business dropped. They collect members RM3,000 to RM4,000 with credit card monthly easy payment and in return you get a hospital benefits insurance from Pacific Insurance worth only a few hundred RMs together with some you-don’t-need medical check-ups from their associate Company Pathlab. Also talk about fitness, lifestyles bullshit that is all worthless.

15) Gano Excel - This company from the north, a copycat of DXN selling Lingzhi capsules created a new Company called Gano iTouch to cash-in on the internet like e-Cosway after their Company went down the drain since the last 2 years, selling Linzhi and some no-value energy pendants and alkaline water gadgets. They provide free transport every weekend from KL to visit their Alor Star office.

16) NuLife(HK) - This Company started by some HK people has been in Malaysia for more than 10 years but they have flopped in HK and Malaysia due to bad management and a product scam making use of a prosecuted American named Dr Jeffrey Bland, found guilty of false products claim. Since this case in the US leaked out and many Malaysians found out that the real boss in HK is a Steven Tang (he cheated many Malaysians in another scheme about 20 years ago) their business went down all the way. Now they claim Malaysian partners cheated them and start a new Company in Malaysia . Watch out, this new Company will come out with some investment scheme idea that will get many to lose their money.

17) Arowana Fish Breeding, Oora from Germany , Biofuel (Kompleks Maluri) etc - These are some newer scams. Arowana fish venture ask you to invest some money and give you fixed return. Biofuel will tell you their Indonesia connections(just like Sunshine Empire before using Taiwan) & Oora from Germany (I never trust those cruel Germans) that market some bio-chips and a gadget that claims to give energy and therapeutic effects of accupunture, tai-chi, yoga, etc depending how you set the toy-like gadget, wear it on your body and you get the effect later. They could not explain or provide any demonstration to prove their effectiveness. Only doctors and papers claim that I will never trust. The health effect is actually PLACEBO, which I will elaborate in a different thread.

Lastly but not least, thank you for reading to the end and I hope you can come back for more details and updates or help to contribute for me to update. I hope to receive information of any scams so that I can share them here to protect others. Although most of those above-mentioned are marketed through direct-selling or MLM schemes, I will soon add non-MLM scams. Please contribute.

If you wish to send me any new information confidentially, you may email them to me at: stopscams007@gmail.com

Good Luck.

Coli rosakkan payu dara

http://www.kosmo.com.my/

Battleground Ipoh: Yet another scuffle in the august House

Perak state secretary Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Hashim (third from left) being told by Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen not to interfere in the state assembly sitting. - 7 May, 2009

Battleground Ipoh: Yet another scuffle in the august House.
Thursday, 07 May 2009 01:13pm
2:15pm Barisan and Pakatan reps get into a shouting and shoving match around “new” Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan. Barisan reps try to pull their man away, but several Pakatan reps are shoving their way through, shouting “Bubar ADUN” (“Dissolve the Assembly”) and “You are not my Speaker!”

The State Secretary, ousted mentri besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin and the Barisan-appointed executive councillors are standing outside the fray.

2:05pm MIKE WRESTLING MATCH ON!! “New” Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan re-enters the hall to resume his place in anticipation of the opening address by the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah.

Another brief scuffle ensues as Pakatan reps try to get Ganesan to leave. DAP’s Thomas Su tries to grab the microphone from Ganesan, forcing Barisan reps form a protective ring around Ganesan, who is seated on the “Barisan side” of the hall.

Some shouting and pushing goes on as Pakatan reps try to shout down Ganesan.

2:00pm A small group of people have gathered outside the Federal Reserve Unit base in Ipoh where more than 30 of the 64 people arrested this morning are being kept.

Supporters are encouraging motorists to honk their horns as a show of protest against the arrests. It’s mighty noisy in “sleepy old” Ipoh town.

12:58pm “New” Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan attempts to reconvene the sitting, but is shouted out by Pakatan reps.

Exco Hamidah Osman proposes the House adjourns for another hour, to shouts of "Ular, ular!" (snake, snake) from Pakatan reps.

The motion is seconded and Ganesan announces that the House will adjourn for an hour. Again, nobody leaves the hall.

The Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah, has yet to deliver his opening address.

12:50pm Royal address by the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah, is delayed once again.
Barisan and Pakatan reps are seen chatting with each other in the middle of the hall.

“Former” Speaker V. Sivakumar remains rooted to the Speaker’s chair.

12:45pm Perak Umno Youth lawyer Saiful Adli Mohd Arshad says he had lodged a police report at the Ipoh district police station at 11:30am against “former” Speaker V. Sivakumar for asking Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, six executive councillors and three Barisan-friendly independent assemblymen to leave the hall.

Saiful Adli alleges that Sivakumar’s instructions were in contempt of a Federal Court order that had declared his suspension of Dr Zambry and the six excos as invalid.

In his police report, Saiful Adli named his source of information as being The Star SMS News Alert.

12:20pm Pakatan reps engage in some good-natured ribbing with “new” Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan in the middle of the hall. A few Barisan reps move to “defend” him.

A Barisan rep has a brief scuffle with some Pakatan reps after DAP’s Thomas Su calls on Ganesan to leave. Scuffle ends with assemblymen from both sides who succeed in getting everybody to cool off.

12:15pm Sitting resumes. “Former” Speaker V. Sivakumar and some Pakatan reps ask “new” Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan to leave the hall. Ganesan is attired in the official Speaker’s garb. A heated argument ensues.

12:01pm Perak assemblymen still observing one-hour adjournment. Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and executive councillors return to the hall after a short break.
The Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah, is expected to deliver his opening address at 12:30pm.

The address was initially supposed to have been delivered this morning after a short statement from “former” Speaker V. Sivakumar, but he had instead used the opportunity to order Dr Zambry and six executive councillors -- whom he had suspended earlier -- as well as the three “Barisan-friendly” independent reps, out of the Dewan.

This had sparked the shouting match and the proposing of motions ahead of the original agenda.
Sivakumar is still seated in the Speaker’s chair and is conferring with his Pakatan Rakyat colleagues. “New” Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan is conferring with his Barisan colleagues. More sparks are expected.

Noon “Former” Speaker V. Sivakumar says this mornings proceedings are not valid, noting that the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah, had yet to deliver his opening address. Sivakumar says that the sitting proper begins only after the opening address.

It is believed that Raja Nazrin is preparing to deliver his address as soon as the one-hour adjournment is over.

11:20am House also passes motion to declare March 3 “under the tree” sitting as invalid and the resolutions passed therein as invalid.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir asks for Assembly to “stand down” for an hour. All assemblymen return to their seats.

V. Sivakumar is still seated in the Speaker’s chair. Ganesan is seated in a chair behind Dr Zambry with the Barisan assemblymen.

11.05am Newly-appointed Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan receives motions to form new committees for Public Accounts, Standing Orders, as well as Rights Privileges, with new members. All motions are passed.

10:55am Datuk R. Ganesan puts on the Speaker’s robes to the cheers of Barisan assemblymen and Barisan-friendly independent reps and takes his oath. Sivakumar stands up to protest.

10:42am Former mentri besar and Pengkalan Hulu assemblyman Tajol Rosli and several Barisan reps declare that all 28 Barisan reps and the three Barisan-friendly assemblymen have voted to remove V. Sivakumar as Speaker.

V. Sivakumar’s microphone is switched off. Deputy Speaker Hee Yit Foong, whose resignation from DAP led to the Barisan takeover of the state government, tries to take over the Speaker’s role.

Hee announces that Sivakumar has to leave the hall because the majority has voted him out and he has lost the confidence of the assembly.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir proposes Datuk R. Ganesan be appointed the new Speaker. Hamidah Osman seconds the motion and Hee announces at 10:50am that Ganesan is the new Speaker. Sivakumar still refuses to leave.

Earlier, Sivakumar had directed the sergeant-at-arms to remove Dr Zambry, his six excos and the three independents from the hall, but the sergeant-at-arms refused to follow his instructions.

10:35am After 20mins of shouting, nothing has been really settled.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir twice tries to put forward a motion to sack Speaker V. Sivakumar, with all Barisan Nasional reps raising their hands in agreement. Sivakumar rejects the motion both times.

Pakatan reps are chanting “Keluar, keluar” (“out, get out”). Sivakumar is still calling for the suspended Zambry and his six excos to leave the hall before proceedings can begin.

10:25am Yet more arrests (again!) outside the state secretariat, this time it’s Dr Parit Buntar MP Mujahid Yusof Rawa of PAS. DAP vet Lim Kit Siang says others arrested include DAP Ayer Tawar councillor Phang Hean Chong and Ipoh councillor Chan Tong Tuan.

10:15am Assembly gets heated, with intense shouting match. Speaker V. Sivakumar directs Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and the six state executive councillors Zambry had appointed to leave the Assembly. Sivakumar had last month suspended them.

Dr Zambry and the Barisan reps sitting on the left of the Speaker ignore calls from Pakatan reps for those suspended to leave the Dewan. Sivakumar refuses to begin proceedings unless the suspended lawmakers leave.

10:06am Yet another arrest, this time of Sg Siput Member of Parliament Jeyakumar, who was detained about 10m from the so-called “democracy tree” where the historic “under the tree” assembly was held on March 3.

10:05am All Perak state assemblymen, special guests with invitations and accredited media are allowed into the Dewan. Pakatan reps sit on the right side of the Speaker (the “government side”).

Police conduct strict checks of all ID passes. All people scanned with metal detectors. Men without songkok (Malay headgear) and a female reporter in traditional Punjabi outfit were denied entry.

Shouting can be heard from within the Dewan.

10:01am PAS Youth chief Salahuddin Ayub detained for illegal assembly about 20m from the so-called “democracy tree” where the historic “under the tree” assembly was held on March 3.
10:00am The Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah, arrives at the state secretariat building.
9:50am According to Lim Kit Siang, those arrested so far include Lau Dak Kee, DAP veteran chairman, former rep R.K. Muthu, blogger Zorro (Bernard Khoo), Lee Kong Hing, previous Negri Sembilan state organising secretary, Sg Pinang rep Koid Teng Guan, Bahau rep Tey Kok Seong, Temiang rep Ng Chin Tsai, Teratai rep Jenice Lee, Melaka rep Khoo Poay Tiong, Taiping DAP Youth chief Tey Kok Lim.

9:40am Another two arrests, this time it’s DAP’s R.K. Muthu, former Gopeng assemblyman, and former Perak DAP chief Lau Dak Kee.

9:30am Police and FRU (Field Reserve Unit) rush to a coffeeshop near state secretariat building where supporters (believed to be DAP) have gathered. In their attempt to disperse the crowd, a scuffle ensues. The coffeeshop owner is now closing his shop.

Eight more people arrested, to bring the total to 20, for going against the court order and gathering within 500m of the state secretariat building. Their identities are unknown.

9:15am Tight security maintained around state secretariat building, honour guard has arrived ahead of the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah, who will deliver the opening address at the Assembly.

9:00am Police detain P. Sugumaran, political secretary to Ipoh Barat Member of Parliament M. Kulasegaran, for trying to force his way through the barricades surrounding the state secretariat building.

8:55am Police truck carrying first batch of detainees leaves the state secretariat building. Among the 11 arrested is Teratai assemblyman Jenice Lee.

8:45am Police arrest three men wearing t-shirts with the slogan “Kembalikan hak rakyat” (Give the people back their rights) after a scuffle outside the state secretariat building.

8:32am Police arrest PKR Wanita national chief and Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin and a few supporters for trying to force their way into the state secretariat building. Supporters are wearing black and carrying banners with pictures of the royalty.

8:20am All 28 Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen, including ousted mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin and perhaps-soon-to-be-ousted Speaker V. Sivakumar leave for the state secretariat building from the Grand View Hotel in Ipoh in a convoy of cars led by police escort.

6:45am Police seize more than 200 t-shirts with the words “One Black Malaysia” printed on them from a stall next to the Kampung Manjoi Baru surau.

5:30am Pakatan Rakyat holds a mass prayer at a surau (Muslim shrine) in Kampung Manjoi Baru in Ipoh; participants pray for the State Legislative Assembly to be dissolved.

IPOH: All eyes are on this so-called sleepy town once more as the battle lines are drawn between the legitimate Perak state government and the party holding on to power without a mandate -- yet which party wears which label is still a matter of fierce dispute.

The war between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat has seen battles in backrooms and courtrooms, on the streets and under a rain tree, in the corridors of power and within the drawing rooms of the populace.

This time the arena is again the State Legislative Assembly, with a strong show of supporters expected at the state secretariat building despite police warnings not to gather and a court order barring any member of the public or a political party without legitimate business from approaching within 500m of the building.

Pakatan is eager to defer any sitting to after May 13 -- the six-month deadline from the last sitting in November last year -- so that the Assembly is automatically dissolved and fresh elections have to be called.

Meanwhile, Barisan is pinning its hopes on the sitting on so that they can hold on to power until the next general election.

The battle proper will begin after the opening royal address by the Raja Muda (Regent) of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah.

There will be many duels, from the petty to the iconic, in the august House Thursday morning -- from which assemblymen get to sit on the “state government seats,” to the expected motion of no-confidence that Barisan will use to see off the thorn in their side, Speaker V. Sivakumar, and appoint a new one.

As the Speaker, Sivakumar could reject the motion and all hell could break loose very early in the day. Or he could try to adjourn the sitting after the royal address.

Whatever ever happens in the Assembly today, it is a sure bet that the war will not end here and it will be some time before the people of Perak get to see some peace and quiet in their “sleepy town.”

'Malaysia Boleh’ is easier to understand, says Dr M

BANGI, Aug 1 – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today admitted that he still does not understand what “1 Malaysia” means, a concept introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in an attempt to foster national unity.

“I admit that I still do not fully understand what is ‘1 Malaysia’, I am worried people will assume ‘1 Malaysia’ is ‘Malaysian Malaysia’” said Mahathir when asked by an Umno member at a forum on the position of the Malays here.

“I think a study needs to be done, and explanation must be given, on the effect of such slogans,” he added.“

Many people have asked me. But most people support it because it came from the No 1 leader,” he said.Dr Mahathir explained how Islam Hadhari, introduced by former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Badawi, is no longer discussed as a result of failure to explain the concept.

“Now nobody talks about Islam Hadhari, because we are confused, for five years they try to explain Islam Hadhari, but nobody understands,” said Dr Mahathir.

“But Malaysia Boleh is easy, everyone understands, because we can,” he added, referring to the slogan introduced during his administration.

OCT 9 — I have always observed that to most of us, being religious is more important than embracing the spiritual aspect of our faith. Being religious, after all, entails ritualistic observance of whatever is decreed by our faith.

And so, the Muslims fast and we pray and we pay zakat. And the Christians would go to the church on Sundays and wear a necklace with a cross pendant. The Hindus would swim in the Ganges River and break coconuts in the morning before going to work. And so on and so forth.
What our faith brings us is the least of our concern. What our ritualistic observance turns us into does not matter. As long as we perform the rituals religiously; we are, after all, religious. And God asks us to be religious.

Or does He?
I have always related this story to my friends. And I am going to tell it here. And let me preface it with a statement. I am not telling this story to insult or to belittle Christianity or Christians.
I used to live near one of the most active churches — if not THE most active and wealthy — in Kuala Lumpur. I have no qualms with that. That church was very active. It organised speeches and sermons almost every other night. The church-goers were known to donate up to 15 per cent of their monthly income to that church. And every time they did that, the place would be full of cars, parked everywhere.

Many drivers of the cars would try and make a three-point turn in front of my house. That was okay by me. But out of 10, one or two would invariably knock on my gate. Of course it was unintentional. My gate lock would be bent. I had to repair that lock many times. And then the next week it would happen again.

In all the six years I was there, this happened many, many times. However, there wasn't a single person who had stopped to ring my bell to say sorry. Nor anyone who left a note to say so. It was a small matter to me. And it was not a big deal to me.

But the thing that bothered me was this. It would appear that all the nightly sermons and speeches and all the monthly donations had done nothing to improve common courtesy among all those who had knocked my gate. And sometimes I pondered have we all ever thought what all this religiosity had done to us? Has it made us any better?

And now, at the current moment in this country, we have people who shout and scream about jihad this and jihad that. About caning a woman. About shutting up people who dare to question. About throwing the Sedition Act against some parties who are just raising awareness. What has happened to all of us? To our faith? Is our faith just about ritualistic observance of some rules and regulations?

Sometime I think we are living in a very unforgiving society. Do we blame teenage girls who abandon their babies in a drain at the back of a school? Or even kill their babies? In a moment of lust, they could have succumbed to human temptation and they are pregnant.

What do they do? Tell their pious father and mother about it? What would happen? They would be chased away from home? Or caned? Or even kicked and ridiculed by the whole neighbourhood? Nowhere they could go without being talked about or whispered about. Oh she is so immoral! Look at her. That young immoral slut! And what will happen to the baby when he or she is born? Bastard child! Anak haram. That's what he or she is. He or she can't even have his or her father's name on his or her birth certificate. That is how unforgiving all of us are. How cruel we are. How nasty we are.

And what choice is left for the teenage girl other than to hide the pregnancy and suffer alone. And what could she do to avoid the ignominy of being stamped "immoral and unwanted"? Are we surprised then to see so many babies are abandoned or even killed? Does our faith implore us to be such creatures?

How often do we pray for forgiveness when in fact we are unable to forgive? Why do we seek compassion when we ourselves are unable to be compassionate? Have we ever, ever prayed for love? Why would we seek mercy when we are, as human beings, merciless?

Take the Palestinian issue. When the Israelis were bombing Palestine some time ago, there were text messages and e mails going around asking Muslims to pray for the destruction of Israel. And for the Jews be killed. We shed tears when we see a Palestinian mother wailing away holding her dead toddler covered with blood on the face in front of a crumbled house. And then we pray for all Jews to be killed.

How about the innocent ones? How about their children? Do we laugh and smirk in satisfaction if we look at a picture of a Jewish mother wailing while holding her dead toddler? Is that okay just because that child is Jewish? Where do we go from here?Has our faith taught us to be heartless, cruel, cold and vicious?

The God that we worship and pray is to is the Most Compassionate and Merciful. And yet we, His followers are the exact opposite.

What has happened to justice and fairness? Why is it wrong has become right and right has become wrong? Has our faith taught us to forgive some and punish others? Or has our God blinded us because He is tired of our antics?

Perhaps, when Kahlil Gibran wrote "Give Me The Nay", he was referring to us in Malaysia now. Perhaps he had a vision of what was going to happen here now. And he wrote:

"With man, religion is a field
Tilled only by those who sow it with selfish
prayers —
whether preachers hoping for eternal happiness
or ignorant men who fear the flames of hell.
Without the penalty of Judgement
Man would not have worshipped any Lord
And without the promise of reward he would
have blasphemed,
as though religion were a business matter
devotion to its cause will bring him gain;
neglect, loss.
In the forest there is no religion,
no hideous blasphemies;
for when the nightingale sings
he is not saying: ‘This is just.’
The religion of man appears
like a shadow, then disappears.
After God and the Messiah
there is no religion on earth.
Give me the nay and sing,
for song is the pearl of prayers;
the laments of the nay will reach
far beyond the fading of Life.
If they heard talk of it, justice on earth would
make the jinn weep;
and if they could see it, the dead would laugh.
For those who commit a misdemeanour are
reserved prison and death;
and those who commit great crimes earn
prosperity and fame.
The man who steals the flower is censured and
scorned,
while he who robs the fields is a daring and
fearsome hero.
He who murders the body is condemned to
death,
while he who murders the soul remains
unknown to all.
In the forest there is no justice,
nor even punishment.
When the willow’s shade lengthens over the ground,
the cypress does not say: ‘What sacrilege!’
The justice of man is like snow —
once the sun sees it, it melts.
Give me the nay and sing,
For song is the justice of hearts;"

Malaysians still ignorant on spread of HIV

2009/09/06 Malaysians still ignorant on spread of HIV

PETALING JAYA: There is still a lot of misconception about the mode of transmission of HIV infection in Malaysia despite various awareness programmes conducted by the government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), a survey revealed.
These were related to mainly kissing, sharing meals, sitting on public toilets, using public swimming pools and causal contact, said University of Malaya Psychologist, Prof Low Wah Yun, who conducted the survey with two other colleagues.

"It was important for these misconceptions to be dispelled in order to reduce the stigma and discrimination," she told Bernama here.

In this respect she added the mass media could play a significant role where it could tackle difficult issues such as how to handle unwanted sexual advances and negotiate condom use.

Low also said that the number of HIV cases through heterosexual relationship was on the rise in the country due to the fact that most Malaysian males were reluctant to use condoms.

She also highlighted the risk of contacting HIV amongst adolescents who did not practice safe sex.

"Worldwide, more than 50 per cent of all new HIV infections occur in those between 10 and 24 years. Daily, over 7000 young people were infected with HIV," she said.

Low said although the Ministry of Health had implemented the "Prostar" programme for young people aimed at increasing their knowledge on HIV/AIDS, the survey found that there was still a large number of youths who were unaware of it.

She suggested that the programme be widely implemented especially for out of school youths and young factory workers.

She said peer education was an effective way for young people to participate in HIV prevention and care efforts.

On the rising threat of cybersex and internet sex addiction, she said online sexual activity was the next sexual revolution, as it was a type of sexual expression that ranged from curiosity to obsessive involvement.

To combat this growing social issue, there was an urgent need for youth friendly sexual and reproductive health services that provided confidentiality and trust and were non-judgemental, she added. - Bernama

Why do Malaysians march?

Why do Malaysians march?
By: Yeo Yang Poh (Aug 02, 2009)

WHY march, when the government has said that it will review the Internal Security Act? Why march, when there are other very cosy ways of giving your views and feedback?

One would understand if these were questions posed by nine-year-olds. But they are not. They are questions posed by the prime minister of this nation we call our home.

Answer we must. So, why?

Because thousands who died while in detention cannot march or speak any more. That is why others have to do it for them.

Because persons in the corridors of power, persons who have amassed tremendous wealth and live in mansions, and persons who are in the position to right wrongs but won’t, continue to rule our nation with suffocating might. And they certainly would not march. They would prevent others from marching.Because the have-nots, the sidelined, the oppressed, the discriminated and the persecuted have no effective line to the powerful.

Because the nice ways have been tried ad nauseam for decades, but have fallen on deaf ears.

Because none of the major recommendations of Suhakam (including on peaceful assembly), or of the commissions of inquiry, has been implemented.

Because the proposed Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) is not in sight, while corruption and insecurity live in every neighbourhood; and (despite reasoned views expressed ever so nicely in opposition) Rela (people’s volunteer corps) is being brought in to make matters even worse. The proponents in “Su Qiu” (remember them?) were not marchers. In fact it is hard to find nicer ways than “su qiu”, because the term means “present and request” or “inform and request”. In terms of putting forward a view or a request, it is the height of politeness. Yet they were labelled “extremists” – they who did not march. And now you ask, why march?

Because you gave non-marchers a false name! You called them the “silent majority”, who by virtue of their silence (so you proudly argued with twisted logic) were supporters of government policies since they were not vocal in raising objections. You claimed to be protecting the interest of the “silent majority”. Now some of them do not want to be silent anymore, and you are asking why?

Yes, because double standards and hypocrisy cannot be covered up or explained away forever; and incompetence cannot be indefinitely propped up by depleting resources.

Because cronyism can only take care of a few people, and the rest will eventually wake up to realise the repeated lies that things were done in certain ways purportedly “for their benefit”.

Because the race card, cleverly played for such a long time, is beginning to be seen for what it really is – a despicable tool to divide the rakyat for easier political manipulation.

Because it does not take much to figure out that there is no good reason why Malaysia, a country with abundant human resources and rich natural resources, does not have a standard of living many times higher than that of Singapore, an island state with no natural resources and that has to import human resources from Malaysia and elsewhere.

Because, in general, countries that do not persecute marchers are prosperous or are improving from their previous state of affairs, and those that do are declining.

Because Gandhi marched, Mandela marched, Martin Luther King marched, and Tunku Abdul Rahman marched.Because more and more people realise that peaceful assemblies are no threat at all to the security of the nation, although they are a threat to the security of tenure of the ruling elite.Because politicians do not mean it when they say with a straight face or a smile that they are the servants and that the people are the masters. No servant would treat his master with tear gas, batons and handcuffs.

Because if the marchers in history had been stopped in their tracks, places like India, Malaysia and many others would still be colonies today, apartheid would still be thriving in South Africa, Nelson Mandela would still be scribbling on the walls of Cell 5, and Obama would probably be a slave somewhere in Mississippi plotting to make his next midnight dash for the river.

And because liberty, freedom and dignity are not free vouchers posted out to each household.

They do not come to those who just sit and wait. They have to be fought for, and gained.

And if you still want to ask: why march; I can go on and on until the last tree is felled. But I shall obviously not.

I will end with the following lines from one of the songs sung in the 1960s by civil rights marchers in the US, without whom Obama would not be able to even sit with the whites in a bus, let alone reside in the White House:

It isn’t nice to block the doorway
It isn’t nice to go to jail
There are nicer ways to do it
But the nice ways have all failed
It isn’t nice; it isn’t nice
You’ve told us once, you’ve told us twice
But if that’s freedom’s price
We don’t mind ...”
