What it means to be Malay 1st, Malaysian 2nd.

What it means to be Malay 1st, Malaysian 2nd.

When a Malay, Chinese and Indian, all Malaysians, apply for:-

1) Scholarships, Malays will get it first irrespective of bright Malaysians

2) Entry to the local universities and best courses such medicine, dentistry, law, Malays will get it first irrespective of quality.

3) Residential hostels, Matriculation courses, MARA Uni, Malays will get 90% to 100%. (By the way, matriculation exams are internally set by own lecturers - about thousands of straight A’s students in Matriculation compared to the straight A’s STPM which are few. This is “Malay meritocracy vs Malaysian meritocracy”!

4) Social Welfare, Malays will get it first irrespective of how poor the Malaysian rakyat is

5) Business Contracts, Malays will get it first irrespective of who can offer the best value, quality and unblemished track record. Even when blacklisted, Malay associations have the right to complain because the rakyat owes them a living.

6) Sharing of wealth and equity, IPOs, ASB, Malays will get it first. Even with ASB for Malays give higher returns and principal guaranteed capped at RM200K instead of other bonds for Malaysians with lower yield capped at RM50K. This will be ongoing. Why Malays cannot reach 30% equities? Statistics are manipulated so that valuation of shares are based on par value (Imagine valuing CIMB, Maybank, Sime darby etc at par value of RM1.00 instead of market value of RM12 etc. Malaysians must accept these assumptions or make sure this is hidden or else priviledges are gone..!! )

7) Low cost houses, lands, houses even bungalows, Malays will get it first because they are the supreme race and the rest of Malaysians are immigrants. Quotas for Malays are 30% to 50% with steep discounts to be subsidized by the rest of the Malaysians.

8) Important Senior management jobs, CEO positions in government linked companies, Malays will get it first irrespective of the best qualified and most capable Malaysian candidates.

9) Government linked positions, civil positions, nurses and teachers training, Malay will get first irrespective whether they are qualified

10) Religious land for worship or terms of God, Malays own it and the rest must obey.

11) Demonstrations, freedom of expressions, racial blurs, Malays can have their say, others under ISA…

Now you know why it is Malay 1st, Malaysian 2nd. Education, welfare, economic, business policies are to benefit Malay first then Malaysian 2nd. The rest of the rakyat, who works hard, contribute to nation building will continue to be Malaysians 2nd..

So it is not so difficult to understand if a Malay Indonesian Badminton player is paying against a Chinese or Indian Malaysian, those who subscribe Malay 1st, Malaysians 2nd will cheer for the Malay badminton player. When there is a citizenship application of a Malay Indonesian and a qualified non Malay, the Malay Indonesian will get it irrespective of merits.

That is why we have Malay is 1st class other Malaysians 2nd class. This is the only country that has racism and special rights enshrined in the constitutions because Malay is supreme.

So if you have the opportunity to migrate to be treated fairly and justly, why stay? Malaysians 2nd means you will always be an immigrant. Why become an immigrant with 2nd class rights when other countries are willing to give you the same rights.

1Malaysia to appease Malaysians 2nd class hope until the elections…

Wise UP Malaysians! Vote wisely.

KHOO KAY PENG IS RIGHT. HOW CAN NAJIB WALK HIS TALK??? TIME IS ALSO RUNNING OUT!!!

1. NAJIB CANNOT EVEN DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THE 1MALAYSIA CONCEPT & THE RACIAL POLITICS CURRENTLY PRACTISED BY THE MANY MALAY POLITICIAN IN UNMO.

2. IN THIS CASE WHERE IS THE FUTURE OF 1MALAYSIA? IN OTHER WORD, IT IS ONLY NAJIB'S SLOGAN & WE CANNOT SEE HOW IT WILL WORK FOR ALL MALAYSIAN IRRESPECTIVE OF RACE!!!

3. 1MALAYSIA CONCEPT WILL NEVER WORK IF HE CANNOT STOP THESE MALAY POLITICIANS FROM TRYING TO CHAMPION MALAY SUPREMACY OVER OTHER RACES IN THE COUNTRY!!!

PLEASE PASS ON THIS EMAIL TO AS MANY MALAYSIAN AS POSSIBLE SO AS TO ENABLE THEM TO ASSESS THE 1MALAYSIA SLOGAN ADVOCATED BY NAJIB................................

Khoo Kay Peng speaks out..

Can Najib Walk his Talk? So far, the judgment is NO.

Again the saying pertaining to this,

Your actions is so loud (not walking your talk) that I cannot hear what you are saying (all your speeches are for nothing)

NEM, NEP, Perkasa & Malay First, Malaysian Second: Time is Running Out for PM Najib

PM Najib is forced to go back to the Barisan old script when he was asked to react on his deputy statement that he was "Malay 1st, Malaysian 2nd".

Najib defended his deputy, "Being a Malay doesn't mean that you are against 1Malaysia or you don't think like a Malaysian." "Similarly, if you are a Malaysian Chinese, it doesn't mean that you don't think like a Malaysian or subscribe to the concept of 1Malaysia," he said.

Najib's knee-jerk reaction on Muhyiddin's statement unmasks his own understanding about nation building and the 1Malaysia concept.

The lack of national affinity and shared destiny is the main obstacle for 1Malaysia. It is sad to note that the 1Malaysia founder himself does not share the vision of nationhood and citizenship. If Najib does not trust his own nation building agenda, he should not have misused the name, Malaysia .

1Malaysia is not consistent with Ethnicity 1st, Nationality 2nd.

We cannot blame Muhyiddin for his lack of national identity because nation building was not featured in the Barisan rule over the last 5 decades. Barisan is an antithesis to 1Malaysia and nation building. The most important element in a nation building project is to outlaw racial discrimination. Barisan is the epitome of racism and racially based politics.

Najib cannot remain coy and silent on the demands, attacks and allegations made against the Chinese community, in particularly, by Perkasa.

Interestingly, a politician such as Ibrahim Ali needed racism to resurrect his career. Of course he is enjoying the media limelight at the moment. At the Aljazeera interview, he lambasted "If these people say that they are second-class citizens, don't talk s**t! Don't talk s**t! I repeat three times, don't talk s**t!"

"We, the Malays have forgiven them a lot, we have sacrificed a lot of our interests," he added.

I would like Ibrahim to clarify what interests?

It appears that Muhyiddin is now clamouring to ride on Perkasa's wave by declaring that he is "Malay 1st" and "Malaysian 2nd".

Regardless of the publicity stunt and damage control, Najib knows that his defence of Muhyiddin and his statement is going to tear his concept to pieces.

His administration is dragging its feet on the NEM details and mechanism. It makes us wonder if there is any meat at all in NEM.

Time is running out for him. Another talk but no walk is going to put him on the same pedestal as Abdullah Badawi.

Najib should state his stand on Perkasa and Ibrahim Ali's disrespect for non-Malay citizens. They (Najib, Muhyiddin and Ibrahim) should remember that their salaries and perks are paid by Malaysians of all races. Not by the Malays only.

SAY NO TO RACISM!

Orang asli bemoan land exploitation

Orang asli bemoan land exploitation

GUA MUSANG: Orang asli settlers in Pos Balar claimed they lost their source of income when a firm cleared their 100ha rubber plantation to develop a project called ‘Ladang Rakyat’.
They said the Kelantan PAS government appointed the company to develop the land.
Sugi Alang, 26, said most of the area had been used for agriculture by the orang asli for the past 20 years.

need of assistance: Nik Aziz receiving a memorandum pertaining to the ruins caused by the ‘Ladang Rakyat’ project from an Orang Asli Community representative in Kota Baru, Kelantan on Monday. — Bernama

“We planted rubber and other crops, but the company has now cut down the rubber trees,” he said.
He added that the state government should have resolved the land issue with the orang asli first, instead of giving priority to a foreign company.
Another settler, Samri Talib, 30, said a water catchment area on a hill in the premises had been damaged when the forest was cleared for the estate. “We are concerned over this,” he said.

The comatose Malay by Mariam Mohktar - Well expressed !!

The comatose Malay by Mariam Mohktar - Well expressed !!

Is this the sign of things to come in Malaysia? The organisers of
former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad's talk on the 'Malay race and the
future' banned non-Malay reporters and television crews. Reporters
today, who next tomorrow?

And Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak just looks on pathetically?

The talk at the Tun Hussein Onn Memorial is an insult to Hussein Onn's
memory. He was highly regarded for fostering racial unity. His
firmness against anyone creating racial unrest, earned him the
soubriquet Bapa Perpaduan or 'Father of Unity'.

When will we accept that the solution to the problem Malaysia faces
can only be resolved when the Malays come out of their self-imposed
coma?

As a Malay who has benefited from higher education and exposure to
what the world has to offer, I am appalled at what Mahathir and Umno's leaders are doing to
the Malays.

Instead of leading us into the 21st century, they are still talking
about the golden age of yesteryear.

Instead on embracing change and catching up with the rest of the
world, we are still debating who this country belongs to.

Instead of being enthused by all the exciting changes that are
happening elsewhere in the world, we act like children in the
playground, and refuse to yield to reason.

It is simple; this country belongs to all Malaysians who are prepared
to work hard to see the country prosper. Its citizens will benefit
from the collective effort of the people.

In his talk, Mahathir said everyone had to accept that Malaysia
belongs to the Malays and that the country belongs to the culture and
language of the dominant community; however he added that 'Bangsa
Malaysia' has helped strengthen national unity.

Isn't this a contradiction of terms? How can you have 'Bangsa Malaysia' and a
country just for the Malays?

In his opinion, all races must accept that they are from 'Bangsa
Malaysia' to allow better cooperation between the different races and
guarantee the future of the country. Didn't he also say that the
country belongs to the Malay race? Don't these remarks clash?

He said: “…. Peninsular Malaysia was known as Tanah Melayu……. We must
be sincere and accept that the country is Tanah Melayu.”

He explained that the country's forefathers gave the Chinese and
Indians citizenship because they expected the communities to respect
Malay sovereignity.

He is telling the non-Malays that they are second-class citizens here.
He conveniently overlooks the non-Malays who have been more than
willing to identify themselves as Malaysian rather than by
their racial origin.

How dare he say that Malays will feel less threatened if the country
adopts the concept of 'Bangsa Malaysia'?

Insecurities exploited

Malays feel threatened because Mahathir keeps telling them that if the
relax their guard, they will be trampled by the non-Malays and that
the country will be sold to the Chinese.

Mahathir and the succession of Umno leaders are not leading the
country forward. Instead of opening up the Malay mind, they are
closing it.

Umno leaders are leading the Malays into a comatose state. Just like a
person in a coma, who is able to hear outside influences, the Malay
mind is unable to contribute towards the conversation and get out of
his vegetative state.

These leaders have worked on the Malay psyche to further their
personal cause. The Malays have always been a feudalistic and
fatalistic race.

Instead of bringing out the best in
them, these leaders have worked on their insecurities and kept them
hopeless and pessimistic.

The non-Malays who came to Malaya were spurred by adversity and knew
that they had to work to make a success of their lives.

Not so the Malays who had always enjoyed the bountiful harvests of the
land - the rivers, seas or the smallholding that they could cultivate
whatever they wanted.

What Umno leaders have done is to control the Malays because - that
way - they control their personal fortunes.

Mahathir and Najib may have tried to give the impression that they
disagree with each other. Mahathir champions 'Bangsa Malaysia' and
denigrates Najib's '1Malaysia' concept. They hope that between them
they will win over all the Malays.

Grip on power

Only a fool would be deceived by that ploy. The truth is that
both Mahathir and Najib are one another's keepers.

If Mahathir falls, Najib knows he has no more protection and
vice-versa. It also applies to the rest of the Umno/BN hierarchy. Thus
it is important they keep their clique going for as long as is
possible.

Mahathir has the extremist Perkasa to release on the wider community.
The Malays who do not believe in such extremist views simply fall into
Najib's lap. That way the Malays are still under their control.

The Malay mindset has to change. There are many who think like me but
are fearful of speaking out for fear of a public backlash. That is
understandable.

If they continually stay in the shadows, how will their children and
grandchildren benefit? The policies of this BN government are not
based on fairness and equality. Not everyone can aspire to be an
Umnoputra.

They must realise that the method employed by Mahathir and
Najib is one of control. They keep the Malays hopeless and in a state
of pessimism. They frighten the Malays into thinking that if they are
not careful, the non-Malays will dominate their lives. Mahathir and
Najib are skilled in demoralising people.

Malays like me have managed to get out from under our tempurung. Malay
women like me have had to fight various forms of discrimination to
enjoy the benefits that the world has to offer those who are prepared
to work hard.

We did not do this in isolation but with the assistance of everyone:
male and female, young and old, non-Malay and Malay, Muslim and
non-Muslim.

Our fear is that extremist views will hamper the efforts of women to
improve themselves in the modern world. This is already happening with
the influence of ultra-religious views.

People like Mahathir and Najib know that their power is secured for as
long as they can control the Malay mind.

They both know that educated and confident people are much harder to
control and hence to govern.

Muslims Can No Longer Eat In Indian Restaurants

Muslims Can No Longer Eat In Indian Restaurants

1) How very sad! Are the JAWI officers being overzealous or is this another change in policy?

2) Will this also apply to the Hindu barber shops including the one in Lake Club where our previous PM’s, Dr.M & Pah Lah used to frequent? The Hindu Indians, who run the banana leave shops/barber shops, etc, are not going to be happy about it. Will our PM have the courage to step in, in line with our 1Malaysia?

http://blog.limkitsiang.com/2007/06/27/tolerance-my-ass/#more-353

Couldnt help feeling this angry today. I know at my age, I am supposed to be mellowing out, looking forward to a nice chilled day and now what? I find myself with the same amount of righteous anger as I had when I was 16 - going through puberty and finding the world most unfair that my mum wouldnt allow me to have my first pair of cargo pants!

I was sitting in the banana leaf shop this morning having a roti and a coffee when a group of JAWI officers entered the premises. 10 officers to be exact, into this little shop. They spent a good 20 minutes going through the place (and it is a small place!) and finally one officer writes out a writ and gives it to the cashier. They then left.

Curious, I asked the cashier what that was all about and he replied that they were not allowed to have their little altars and pictures of their deities in their shop "because otherwise, Muslims cannot come into their shops" . What utter nonsense!

Are we still living in the Malaysia that is so "famed" for its "religious tolerance"? The shop is not a mamak shop. It is an Indian Banana leaf shop. Why would it be surprising that they should have signs of their religious beliefs in their own space? I didnt think that sort of thing was illegal (please correct me if I am wrong). What is wrong with this picture? Will it come down to the point when my Muslim friends should not visit my home just because I have a cross or a chinese altar there? PLEASE!

Better yet, I discovered as I was leaving , that the JAWI personnel had targetted the other 3 banana leaf shops along that row of old shops (near the vets office - off Jalan Maarof). There were at least 4 nos of vans for the officers , ALL double parked on the main road and causing an inconvenience to the other road users. Is there a separate set of laws that govern these people? Notwithstanding the fact that they are trampling all over the definition of religious tolerance in this country , they also flaunt the general laws of the land. This makes me really angry and sad about the state of our country.

I now find it difficult to speak up for Malaysia when there are arguments comparing Malaysia to other countries. It is sad that we can have the once world tallest building and still think like we came out of the jungle yesterday.

There is no dilemma, Malays just need to work harder like other races

Thursday, February 10, 2011
There is no dilemma, Malays just need to work harder like other races.

How much more abuse should Malays receive from the likes of Mahathir and the Umno elite?

First. Former Prime minister Mahathir Mohamad told us that the country belonged to the Malays and everyone else had to accept the culture and language of the dominant community.

He said, This country belongs to the Malay race. Peninsular Malaysia was known as Tanah Melayu but this cannot be said because it will be considered racist. We must be sincere and accept that the country is Tanah Melayu

Second. Mahathir said that Malays will feel less threatened if the country adopted the concept of Bangsa Malaysia. According to him, Bangsa Malaysia would allow better co-operation between the different races and thus guarantee the future of the country.

Third. Mahathir said that the race affirmative programmes such as the New Economic Policy (NEP) were still important as the Malays were still weak economically.

We must not reject every government effort to help us. We must push away the crutches and realise that we are still limping.

Mahathir has not disappointed us. He is as divisive as ever and many Malays, his target audience, simply cling onto every word.

So, when will Malays understand that this man is insulting our intelligence?

Mahathir made the comments during his talk Malay race and the future", at the Tun Hussein Onn Memorial. He is insulting the memory of Hussein Onn who was called Bapa Perpaduan for his unceasing efforts in promoting racial unity.

Where is our integrity and Malay pride that we continually allow him to abus! e us? He tells us this is our land and at the same time manages to insult us by saying we are too stupid and incapable to hang onto it.

He said the Malay community may risk losing the country without the affirmative action policies.

He alluded to this: Which is better? To be dependent on policies which will save us or depend on others hoping that they will save us? Sooner or later, we will be under their rule.

When he said that the Malays owned Tanah Melayu, he callously ignored the Orang Asli, the Sarawakians and Sabahans. He managed also to slight the non-Malays without whose help, we would not have gained our independence from the British.

Why are Malays condoning the various acts of discrimination?

Isnt it time we took charge of this country, wrestle it from the likes of Mahathir and others like him, and tell them that their ingrained prejudices against non-Malays and non-Muslims are unacceptable?

Mahathir claims we are weak. Why do we continue to take orders from a non-Malay?

Why do the majority of Malays keep quiet when racist leaders divide us?

At some point in time, Malays must alter their mindset. Now, would be perfect.

We have been conditioned for decades by leaders who only wanted to promote their own interests.

They told us we were weak and that we could not think for ourselves.

They offered to do the thinking for us and make decisions on our behalf.

They softened us with their policies which made us lazy and gave us incentives which meant we need not work as hard.

They denied us a good solid education and flip-flopped in between policies. They broke up the mission schools which was once the bedrock of education.

They encouraged large families and allowed polygamous husbands to proliferate and act irresponsibly, so that many children lacked a father figure and thus were denied a solid family unit. Single mothers had to manage on one income and struggled to support their children. Some chil! dren bec ame feral. Large families lacked adequate health-care.

These Umno leaders control the Malay mind. They realise the importance of influence over the Malays.

They dominate and control the Malays, by keeping us in a hopeless and continually pessimistic state. That is what Najib, Mahathir and the other leaders are doing to us.

First, they frighten us and second, they demoralise us.

It is all about power. Control the Malays and power is all theirs.

These uninspiring leaders cannot afford to lose their domination over the Malays.

Without the weak Malays, they are nothing.

They know that educated, healthy and confident Malays are much harder to govern.

Malay, Chinese and Indian are all Malaysian brothers and sisters. But BN has screwed Malaysians and Malaysia up.

10) Demonstrations, freedom of expressions, racial blurs, Malays can have their say, others under ISA …
Now you know why it is Malay 1st, Malaysian 2nd Education, welfare, economic, business policies are to benefit Malay first then Malaysian 2nd.

TIME IS ALSO RUNNING OUT!
1. NAJIB CANNOT EVEN DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THE 1MALAYSIA CONCEPT & THE RACIAL POLITICS CURRENTLY PRACTISED BY THE MANY MALAY POLITICIAN IN UNMO.
2. IN THIS CASE WHERE IS THE FUTURE OF 1MALAYSIA???
IN OTHER WORD, IT IS ONLY NAJIB’S SLOGAN & WE CANNOT SEE HOW IT WILL WORK FOR ALL MALAYSIAN IRRESPECTIVE OF RACE!!
3. 1MALAYSIA CONCEPT WILL NEVER WORK IF HE CANNOT STOP THESE MALAY POLITICIANS FROM TRYING TO CHAMPION MALAY SUPREMACY OVER OTHER RACES IN THE COUNTRY!
PLEASE PASS ON THIS EMAIL TO AS MANY MALAYSIAN AS POSSIBLE SO AS TO ENABLE THEM TO ASSESS THE 1MALAYSIA SLOGAN ADVOCATED BY NAJIB……. …..…. ……… …….
Khoo Kay Peng speaks out.. Can Najib Walk his Talk?
So far, the judgment is NO. Again the saying pertaining to this, Your actions is so loud (not walking your talk) that I cannot hear what you are saying (all your speeches are for nothing)
NEM, NEP, Perkasa & Malay First, Malaysian Second: Time is Running Out for PM Najib PM Najib is forced to go back to the Barisan old script when he was asked to react on his deputy’s statement that he was “Malay 1st, Malaysian 2nd”. Najib defended his deputy, “Being a Malay doesn’t mean that you are against 1Malaysia or you don’t think like a Malaysian.” “Similarly, if you are a Malaysian Chinese, it doesn’t mean that you don’t think like a Malaysian or subscribe to the concept of 1Malaysia,” he said.
Najib’s knee-jerk reaction on Muhyiddin’s statement unmasks his own understanding about nation building and the 1Malaysia concept.
At the Aljazeera interview, he lambasted “If these people say that they are second-class citizens, don’t talk s**t! Don’t talk s**t! I repeat three times, don’t talk s**t!”
“We, the Malays have forgiven them a lot, we have sacrificed a lot of our interests,” he added.
I would like Ibrahim to clarify what interests? It appears that Muhyiddin is now clamouring to ride on Perkasa’s wave by declaring that he is “Malay 1st” and “Malaysian 2nd”.
Najib should state his stand on Perkasa and Ibrahim Ali’s disrespect for non-Malay citizens. They (Najib, Muhyiddin and Ibrahim) should remember that their salaries and perks are paid by Malaysians of all races. Not by the Malays only.

SAY NO TO RACISM!

What's in for green building

What's in for green building
Focus

THE current year looks promising for the green building industry, according to the Earth Advantage Institute (EAI), a non-profit organisation which works with the building industry in Portland, the United States, to help implement sustainable building practices.

It has identified trends in green building for 2011 that range from how to make green homes affordable and energy efficient to community purchasing power and accessory dwelling units following discussions with stakeholders, policymakers, builders, developers, architects, real estate brokers, appraisers, lenders and homeowners.

Here are some of the trends:

Affordable green

EAI said green and energ-yefficient homes are often associated with higher costs but that is changing as new business models, technologies and high performance materials are making them within reach of owners.

With low-cost energy audits, homeowners are becoming more aware of the benefits of simple and inexpensive retrofits, so energy efficiency upgrades are increasingly commonplace.

Affordable housing groups such as Habitat for Humanity build LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Homes-and Energy Star-certified dwellings across the US for as little as US$100,000 (RM306,250). Therefore, green can be affordable.

Community purchasing power

This encourages communities interested in renewable energy to purchase materials such as solar panels in bulk to reduce the price and installation cost.

EAI said group purchasing creates 15 to 25 per cent savings below current prices and gives consumers significant cost savings. It also increases solar energy use among communities.

Accessory dwelling units (ADUs)

These are extra living units on your property complete with a kitchen, bathroom and sleeping facilities. EAI said that being the ideal size for energy efficiency and green construction, these small detached or attached units can be used as offices, studios, rooms for in-laws or be rented out.

ADUs help cities increase urban density and restrict sprawl as rental units while homeowners can add value to their property. Cities such as Portland, Oregon and Santa Cruz have waived administrative fees to encourage more ADU construction.

Residential grey water

EAI said the trend of grey water recycling - any household water waste except toilet water - is gaining traction as it reduces water usage. The practice is still new but many communities have increased the amount of allowable grey water use for irrigation.

Encouraging grey water recycling also reduces strain on septic and rainwater systems and underground replenishment.

Lifecycle analysis (LCA)

EAI said understanding the lifecycle of building materials - their effects from cradle to grave - has always been important to green builders. The industry is studying these materials' effects over the course of their entire lives, from raw material extraction through to disposal and decomposition.

Therefore, lifecycle analysts are examining the impacts of materials through the lens of environmental indicators, which include embodied energy, solid waste, air and water pollution, and potential for global warming.

With the results, LCA for building materials will help architects determine what products are environmentally friendly and more sustainable for usage.

CLAIMING he has never had a telephone bill exceeding RM550, JAWAHAR of Kuala Lumpur is shocked to find his latest handphone charge to be RM1,200.25.

"I received the bill from Maxis on Dec 28 and immediately called their customer service centre to complain. The staff promised to call me after four working days to provide an explanation," he says, adding the call never came.

JAWAHAR says when he called the second time, another staff he spoke to apologised and proposed to reduce his bill to RM250.

JAWAHAR says he did not agree to this and the staff then promised to call him back.

"I disagreed because I never made all those calls that were listed in my itemised bill.

"I have been a Maxis customer for 16 years. My record with them is so good that they gave me a credit limit of more than RM3,000 before.

"Previously, I never bothered to check my bill. This is the first time I'm doing it and this is what happens."
JAWAHAR is still waiting for Maxis to explain to him on the overcharging.

● A SPOKESMAN for Maxis Communications Bhd thanks JAWAHARr for bringing up the matter to them and apologises for the inconvenience caused.

"We have contacted JAWAHARr and resolved the issue amicably, and he has accepted our apology.

"Instead of the full RrM250, we've agreed to have JAWAHARr pay only RrM86. We take full responsibility for this.

"The complainant is a long-time client and we appreciate his loyalty towards Maxis. We hope to keep on serving him better."

The spokesman advises customers to contact them directly through customercare@maxis.com.my or call at 1 800 821 123 to enable them to assist and respond to feedback.

When contacted, JAWAHAR says he is pleased with Maxis for solving the matter in a professional manner and hopes they keep up the good service.

Malaysia palm oil estates flood, prices rise

Malaysia palm oil estates flood, prices rise

Mon Jan 31, 2011 5:50am EST

* Floods kill two, 31,000 evacuated

* Palm oil deliveries slow as roads get cut off

* Chief Minister of Johor expects floods to be more severe

* Palm oil prices at one week-high (Adds paragraphs on food prices)

By Niki Koswanage

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31 (Reuters) - Massive floods in key palm growing areas of Malaysia disrupted shipments, driving prices to a one-week high as forecasters predicted further rains that may impact supplies, potentially adding to Asia's food price spiral.

Two days of rains caused the worst floods in this Southeast Asian country in four years, killing two people and making 31,000 homeless as well as cutting rail links with Singapore.

The floods in Malaysia follow a string of global weather events from drought in Russia last summer to recent floods in Australia that could see up to half of the country's 2010/11 wheat crop downgraded to feed quality, boosting Chicago wheat prices to a 29-month high.

In response, major importing nations are scrambling to build stocks and cut duties to combat inflation. Indonesia last week suspended rice and soybean import duties.

Rains linked to the La Nina weather pattern submerged swathes of southern Johor state, an area 27 times the size of neighbouring Singapore, bringing shipments in Malaysia's second largest producing region to a near standstill.

"My lorries are stuck. There is water everywhere and I cannot send palm fruits out of the estates," one planter told Reuters from Segamat, a town in Johor surrounded by flooded oil palm plantations.

Planters in Johor have delayed 30,000 tonnes to 40,000 tonnes of the vegetable oil over the past two days as rising floods cut off access roads.

Overflowing rivers on Borneo island have also delayed shipments of as much as 60,000 tonnes of crude palm oil headed to refineries in Sabah, the Malaysian state that is the country's number one producer, as trucks were unable to ply waterlogged estate roads, said two planters.

Palm oil prices on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives exchange rose as much as 2 percent to 3,775 ringgit a tonne ($1,235), exacerbating already tight supplies of palm oil which is widely used as a cooking oil across the Middle East and Asia where governments are scrambling to contain soaring food prices.

"We are going into a period of seasonally lower (palm oil) yields, there is little left there," said Ben Santoso, an analyst with Hwang-DBS in Singapore.
