Will this book be Banned?
In making this call, DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang termed it as an issue of pressing national interest and importance.
Furthermore, he said the move will also reflect on Najib's commitment to 'combating corruption' in his Government Transformation Programme (GTP).
"Will any cabinet minister dare step forward to support such a royal commission of inquiry?" he asked in a statement.
The veteran politician was commenting on the book penned by former Asian Wall Street Journal managing editor Barry Wain, entitled 'Malaysian Maverick: Mahathir Mohamad in Turbulent Times'. Lim said Mahathir should declare whether he would co-operate with such a commission of inquiry to prove that Wain is wrong in blaming him for the legacy of "wasting or burning up" RM100 billion in his long tenure as the fourth prime minister, which works up to an average of RM5 billion a year.
Will the book be banned?
The opposition veteran also asked why the government has been holding up 800 copies of the book for more than three weeks.
"There can be no doubt that Mahathir and Najib would have already read the biography. "Is either of them objecting to the release of the biography and want it banned like Mahathir's 'Malay Dilemma' when it was first published in 1970? This would be the irony of ironies," he said.
Lim noted that in this Internet era, which is very different from four decades ago in 1970, any ban or censorship of Wain's new biography will make it even more popular among Malaysians.
He also pressed Mahathir to reveal his thoughts on the matter.
"What is Mahathir's stand on whether Wain's new biography on him should be released to the Malaysian public without any more obstacles from the authorities in Malaysia ?
"If Mahathir thinks that he has been defamed or maligned by Wain in the new biography, he should avail himself of the legal process to clear his name and reputation and not to support any ban or censorship of the book."
In his book, Wain wrote that the Mahathir administration, which took office in 1981 with the slogan, 'clean, efficient, trustworthy', was almost immediately embroiled in financial scandals that "exploded with startling regularity".
By the early 1990s, he said, cynics remarked that it had been "a good decade for bad behaviour, or a bad decade for good behaviour".
Datuk Michelle Yeoh Takes On Apes
By Loong Wai Ting on 08 Dec 2009 at 4:54pm
Orangutans- whose name loosely translates “persons of the forest” are among the planet’s most endangered primates, and the only great apes found in Asia.
“This exclusive premier is yet another milestone under the Malaysia to the World Initiative following the success of “Becoming A King,” “Smart Tunnel” and “Fight Masters Silat,” which has given local filmmakers international acclaim and exposure. The continuing partnership with National Geographic Channel International marks another accomplishment for our efforts in support of the development of local filmmaking talents and documentary production capabilities,” said Director-General of FINAS, Encik Mohd Mahyidin Mustakim.
An award-winning global documentary television channel renowned for its high-quality engaging visuals, compelling storytelling and factual accuracy, National Geographic has become one of the most significant channels, making it a household name in over 260 million homes in 166 countries.
“Among The Great Apes with Michelle Yeoh” is a powerful and dramatic story that will serve as an educational tool for everyone on issues regarding conservation and the well-being of the orang-utan in Malaysia and Asia” said Basil Chua, the Territory Director of Malaysia, National Geographic Channel Asia.
Big-Time Drama, Asia-Style
By Jeffrey Oon
Yahoo! South-East Asia
As TV premieres go, The Biggest Loser Asia pretty much has everything.
Tears, laughter, drama and comedy, weaved in between inspiring and heart-warming tales of hope and heart-break, make for a compelling season-opener.
Tonight’s big kick-off of Asia’s inaugural version of hit weight-loss reality TV show, The Biggest Loser, revolves around the auditions held in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines.
Over 2,000 super-sized hopefuls from all over the region suffer the sweaty ignominy of punishing push-ups and jiggly jumping jacks in the full glare of the TV spotlight.
Their reasons for joining run the gamut from pure hard cash (winner gets US$100,000), fame, love, health, family and repairing major image and self-confidence problems
New Zealand trainer Dave Nuku, who coaches the Blue Team, warns the combustible mix of the intense nature of the show and the fact that the severely obese contestants are away from home, lonely (and often hungry) and living out their vulnerabilities in the full glare of the TV spotlight means only one thing — plenty of drama.
“We’ve had multiple hospital visits, people suffering from hypoglycemic shock and kidney problems, busted knees and ankles, emotional breakdowns, mental collapse, fights between teams. Everyday I come onto the set expecting the unexpected,” says Dave.
“It takes a lot of courage from them to do this and I commend them.”
Watch out also for the fireworks between the Blue and Red Teams.
Australian Kristy Curtis who guides the Red Team, says, “Dave and me are very different. Dave is very reserved, quiet, and laid-back. I’m the opposite and my training is very different from his. We call the Blue Team ‘tree huggers’ because they’re all about hugging, cuddly encouragement and waving their arms while singing ‘Kumbaya’. The Red Team is a little bit more bitchy and our training much more intense, direct and in- your-face.”
Meeee-ooooowww.
And what about the chances of a Singaporean winning the first season of the Biggest Loser Asia?
While the exact lineup of 16 contestants will only be revealed in the second episode, Dave lets on that “two Singaporeans are among the strongest contestants in the show. One set a record for total amount of weight loss in a single week in TBL worldwide.”
Stay tuned.

I don't want to stay at THE CORONADE HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR
This letter is from ANTHONY CHIENG
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Sunshine Borneo Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd
Date: Tue, Sep 15, 2009 at 9:37 AM
Subject: THE CORONADE HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR
Dear Friends, travel colleagues and travel partners, As you all know I am an experienced traveler and this is my 15th year in the tourism industry. My company has expanded from a travel agent to seasports, river cruise, rain forest resort . The following incident happened to me personally, not a story I heard from someone. I DON'T want this to happen to anyone else. Please let your friends, colleagues, love ones know about it.
I booked into : THE CORONADE HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR, (Achi Jaya Properties Sdn Bhd), Jalan Walter Grenier, 55100 Kuala Lumpur , MALAYSIA (located next to Lot 10) from 6th Sept to 9th Sept 2009.
We (me and a friend) have stayed in this hotel 2-3 times this year. It is in a good location and the cost is reasonable.I booked for "The Summit Room" as they have free internet and a bigger room.
We were busy right from day 1 as we have a long "to do list". On the 8th September morning, when I came out of the toilet, I saw the latch and the lock switch in the "open position. The door is closed. I was sure I closed the latch and lock the security lock. I ask my friend to check if there's anything missing and there wasn't, so we thought it's just us being forgetful.
After a busy day from 8.30am to 10pm, we arrived back to the hotel tired and packed up as we are leaving the next day in the morning. We counted the monies and packed everything accordingly.. I personally made sure this time the door is locked on the security lock and the latch. We were so tired and went to sleep. I dozed off around 11pm.
At around 7.00-7.20 am, I woke up and went to the toilet. I remember my phone alarm going off at 730am. Coming out of the toilet, I notice again the latch and the lock in the open position (the door is closed). I immediately ask my friend to check the bags and found our Brunei and Malaysian dollars gone except for 30 plus Malaysian ringgit.
I called the manager on duty immediately and he arrived with a security officer to make a report. The Manager on duty, Raj and the security officer, Harun did not apologise nor was sympathetic. They took my report and looked around and leave.
After they left, I realize, my diamond ring, gold chain and watch which was placed on the table is gone, my mobile phone placed on the table is luckily still there. I called the manager to make the additional report.
They called the police and we found out we had to go to the tourist police station which we went to make the report by Sergeant Shahar. As we had to go get our medical report, we went after we got our report. By the time we came back to the hotel, it was already 1140hrs, we have a flight to catch at 1440hrs.
I expect the hotel to act professionally and to clear this matter up but they didn't not even apologise as our lives and safety was compromised. Some one can enter our room even when we latched it and security lock it!!!! Imagine if the person had a knife or it's a single woman alone in the room.
I am still shocked and thank god no harm came to me and my friend. I overheard the police man asking for the security camera and
I AM SHOCKED TO KNOW THERE IS NO CCTV CAMERA ON THE HALLWAY. ONLY IN THE LIFT AND STAIRWAYS FOR A 4 STAR HOTEL. Has the hotel compromise cost at the risk of hotel guest's safety/security.
Today is the 11th September 2009, I have no response from The CORONADE hotel and also I tried to call the General Manager and was informed he is on leave from 10th Sept for a few days!!!!!
I was not put through to anyone else and the Executive secretary Siti Hajah Yusof who answered the phone says I can email to her. I found this strange as there is the security manager and other top management whom usually will be referred to.
HOW SAFE ARE HOTELS IN MALAYSIA, ESPECIALLY THE CORONADE HOTEL? IF SOMEONE CAN ENTER MY ROOM WHEN IT IS DOUBLE LOCKED, I DO NOT WANT TO STAY IN THAT HOTEL.
PLEASE INFORM YOUR FRIENDS, I DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO GO THROUGH WHAT I WENT THROUGH.
BE SAFE AND MAKE SURE THE HOTEL YOU STAY IN HAS ADEQUATE SECURITY FACILITIES.
SINCERELY,
ANTHONY CHIENG

Joys of A Muslim Woman
In the Muslim faith a Muslim man can marry a child as young as 1 year old and have sexual intimacy with this child. Consummating the marriage by 9.
The dowry is given to the family in exchange for the woman (who becomes his slave) and for the purchase of the private parts of the woman to use her as a toy. Even though a woman is abused she can not obtain a divorce.
To prove rape the woman must have (4) male witnesses. Often after a woman has been raped she is returned to her family and the family must return the dowry.
The family has the right to execute her (an honor killing) to restore the honor of the family. Husbands can beat their wives ‘at will’ and he does not have to say why he has beaten her.
The husband is permitted to have (4 wives) and a temporary wife for an hour (prostitute) at his discretion.
The Shariah Muslim law controls the private as well as the public life of the woman. In the West World (America) Muslim men are starting to demand Shariah Law so the wife can not obtain a divorce and he can have full and complete control of her.
It is amazing and alarming how many of our sisters and daughters attending American Universities are now marrying Muslim men and submitting themselves and their children unsuspectingly to the Shariah law.
By passing this on enlightened American women may avoid becoming a slave under Shariah Law. Learn More….. Read: Cruel and Usual Punishment just released in most bookstores.
Ripping the West in Two. Author and lecturer Nonie Darwish says the goal of radical Islamists is to impose Shariah law on the world ripping Western law and liberty in two.
She recently authored the book Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law. Darwish was born in Cairo and spent her childhood in Egypt and Gaza before emigrating to America in 1978.
When she was eight years old her father died while leading covert attacks on Israel . He was a high- ranking Egyptian military officer stationed with his family in Gaza. When he died he was considered a “shahid” a martyr for jihad.
His posthumous status earned Nonie and her family an elevated position in Muslim society. But Darwish developed a skeptical eye at an early age. She questioned her own Muslim culture and upbringing.
She converted to Christianity after hearing a Christian preacher on television. In her latest book Darwish warns about creeping sharia law – what it is what it means and how it is manifested in Islamic countries.
For the West she says radical Islamists are working to impose sharia on the world. If that happens Western civilization will be destroyed.
In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President!
I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this but with the ACLU there is no way this will be widely publicized unless each of us sends it on! This is your chance to make a difference….!

Getting to know Dr M — Lim Mun Fah
DEC 10 — What kind of person is former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad?
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said Dr M is a racist.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin did not agree with Nazri and said it is rather extreme to label Dr M as a racist.
However, Dr M admitted: “I must be a racist if Nazri says I am racist.”
In his view, as a member of a racial political party, Nazri should not fight against racism. Otherwise, he should resign from the party.
According to Dr M's logic, all Umno members must be racists or they have to resign from Umno.
I can't imagine if Dr M's words are completely true.
As I said, I hope that Nazri won't be the lone voice in Umno, as it represents openness, tolerance and eagerness to make progress.
But I can't see any other Umno elite coming forward to support Nazri and criticise Dr M.Dr M always bears racism in mind as it is indeed a tool that is cheap and good to use.
During the 22-year rule of Dr M, policies that he implemented had a far-reaching impact on the country. To be fair, he made contributions but at the same time, he also did some things inappropriate.
And it is in fact a very controversial issue to say whether his contributions are greater than his wrongdoings or his wrongdoings ares greater than his contribution.Frankly speaking, Dr M is a very controversial former political leader.
Many people write about him. The Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) in Singapore had promoted a new book entitled “Malaysian Maverick: Mahathir Mohamad in Turbulent Times”.
The book has been recognised as the most independent and comprehensive biography of Dr M that explores his ruling style. It is written by Asian Wall Street Journal former editor Barry Wain.
According to Singapore media reports, Wain criticised in his book that “Dr M had undermined state institutions, permitted the spread of corruption and failed to provide for Malaysia’s future leadership”.
Wain also said that Malaysia had squandered an estimated RM100 billion on financial scandals under the 22-year rule of Dr M.
He also said that Dr M had intervened and controlled the judiciary, making the judiciary serve him.
The book also mentioned how Dr M weakened the country and non-governmental organisations, practised cronyism, pursued huge construction projects, undermined the monarchy and destroyed his successors.
Perhaps, Wain may help us to know about a more realistic Dr M but he may also offend some people, causing a backlash.
I wonder whether his book will be published in Malaysia? — mysinchew.com

Parlimen Agama Sedunia Dan Syarahan Herbert Feith
5 Dec 2009
The Decline Of Constitutional Democracy in Indonesia.

From an Australian Newspaper
Discrimination of Non-Malays in Malaysia Plain racists as PAS said . . .
This list is a common knowledge to a lot of Malaysians, especially those non-Malays (Chinese, Ibans, Kadazans, Orang Asli, Tamils, etc.) who have been racially discriminated against..
Figures in this list are merely estimates, so please take it as a guide only. The government of Malaysia has the most correct figures. Is government of Malaysia too ashamed to publish their racist acts by publishing racial statistics?
This list covers a period of about 48 years since independence (1957).
List of racial discriminations ( Malaysia ):
(1) Of the five major banks, only one is multi-racial, the rest are controlled by Malays.
(2) 99% of Petronas directors are Malays.
(3) 3% of Petronas employees are Chinese.
(4) 99% of 2000 Petronas gasoline stations are owned by Malays.
(5) 100% all contractors working under Petronas projects must be of Bumis status.
(6) 0% of non-Malay staff are legally required in Malay companies. But there must be 30% Malay staffs in Chinese companies.
(7) 5% of all new intake for government police, nurses, army, are non-Malays.
(8) 2% is the present Chinese staff in Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), a drop from 40% in 1960.
(9) 2% is the percentage of non-Malay government servants in Putrajaya, but Malays make up 98%.
(10) 7% is the percentage of Chinese government servants in the entire government (in 2004); a drop from 30% in 1960.
(11) 95% of government contracts are given to Malays.
(12) 100% all business licensees are controlled by Malay government, e..g. Taxi permits, Approved permits, etc.
(13) 80% of the Chinese rice millers in Kedah had to be sold to Malay controlled Bernas in 1980s. Otherwise, life is made difficult for Chinese rice millers.
(14) 100 big companies set up, owned and managed by Chinese Malaysians were taken over by government, and later managed by Malays since 1970s, e.g. UTC, UMBC, MISC, Southern Bank etc..
(15) At least 10 Chinese owned bus companies (throughout Malaysia in the past 40 years) had to be sold to MARA or other Malay transport companies due to rejection by Malay authorities to Chinese applications for bus routes and rejection for their applications for new buses..
(16) Two Chinese taxi drivers were barred from driving in Johor Larkin bus station. There are about 30 taxi drivers and three were Chinese in Oct. 2004. Spoiling taxi club properties was the reason given.
(17) 0 non-Malays are allowed to get shop lots in the new Muar bus station (Nov.. 2004).
(18) 8000 billion ringgit is the total amount the government channeled to Malay pockets through ASB, ASN, MARA, privatization of government agencies, Tabung Haji etc, through NEP over a 34 years period.
(19) 48 Chinese primary schools closed down from 1968 - 2000.
(20) 144 Indian primary schools closed down from 1968 - 2000.
(21) 2637 Malay primary schools built from 1968 - 2000.
(22) 2.5% is government budget for Chinese primary schools. Indian schools got only 1%, Malay schools got 96.5%.
(23) While a Chinese parent with RM1000 salary (monthly) cannot get school textbook loan, a Malay parent with RM2000 salary is eligible.
(24) All 10 public university vice chancellors are Malays.
(25) 5% of the government universities' lecturers are of non-Malay origins. This percentage has been reduced from about 70% in 1965 to only 5% in 2004.
(26) Only 5% has been given to non-Malays for government scholarships in over 40 years.
(27) 0 Chinese or Indians were sent to Japan and Korea under the 'Look East Policy.'
(28) 128 STPM Chinese top students could not get into the course to which they aspired, i.e. Medicine (in 2004).
(29) 10% quotas are in place for non-Bumi students for MARA science schools beginning in 2003, but only 7% are filled. Before that it was 100% Malays.
(30) 50 cases in which Chinese and Indian Malaysians are beaten up in the National Service program in 2003.
(31) 25% of the Malaysian population was Chinese in 2004, a drop from 45% in 1957.
(32) 7% of the Malaysian population is Indian (2004), a drop from 12% in 1957.
(33) 2 million Chinese Malaysians have emigrated in the past 40 years.
(34) 0.5 million Indian Malaysians have emigrated overseas.
(35) 3 millions Indonesians have migrated to Malaysia and become Malaysian citizens with Bumis status.
(36) 600,000 Chinese and Indian Malaysians with red IC were rejected repeatedly when applying for citizenship in the past 40 years. Perhaps 60% of them had already passed away due to old age. This shows racism, based on how easily Indonesians got their citizenships compared with the Chinese and Indians.
(37) 5% - 15% discount for a Malay to buy a house, regardless whether the Malay is rich or poor.
(38) 2% is what new Chinese villages get, compared with 98% - what Malay villages got for rural development budget.
(41) 0 temples/churches were built for each housing estate. But every housing estate got at least one mosque/surau built.
(42) 3000 mosques/surau were built in all housing estates throughout Malaysia since 1970. No temples or churches are required to be built in housing estates.
(43) 1 Catholic church in Shah Alam took 20 years to apply to have a building constructed. But they were told by Malay authority that it must look like a factory and not like a church. As of 2004 the application still have not been approved.
(44) 1 publishing of Bible in Iban language banned (in 2002).
(45) 0 of the government TV stations (RTM1, RTM2, TV3) are directors of non-Malay origin.
(46) 30 government produced TV dramas and films always showed that the bad guys had Chinese faces, and the good guys had Malay faces. You can check it out since 1970s. Recent years, this has become less of a tendency.
(47) 10 times, at least, Malays (especially Umno) had threatened to massacre the Chinese Malaysians using May 13, since 1969.
(48) 20 constituencies won by DAP would not get funds from the government to develop. These Chinese majority constituencies would be the last to be developed.
(49) 100 constituencies (parliaments and states) had been racially re-delineated so Chinese votes were diluted for Chinese candidates. This is one of the main reasons why DAP candidates have consistently lost in elections since the 1970s. (update to 2008 needed)
(50) Only 3 out of 12 human rights items are ratified by the Malaysian government since 1960.
(51) 0 - elimination of all forms of racial discrimination (UN Human Rights) has not been ratified by Malaysian government since 1960s.
(52) 20 reported cases whereby Malay ambulance attendances treated Chinese patients inhumanely, and Malay government hospital staffs purposely delayed attending to Chinese patients in 2003. Unreported cases may be 200.
(54) 20 cases every year whereby Chinese drivers who accidentally knocked down Malays were seriously assaulted or killed by Malays.
(55) 12% is what ASB/ASN got per annum while banks fixed deposits are only about 3.5% per annum.
There are hundreds more examples of racial discrimination in Malaysia to add to this list of 'colossal' racism. It is hoped that the victims of racism will write in to help expose this situation.
The Malaysian government should publish statistics showing how much Malays had benefited from the 'special rights' of Malays and at the same time release the statistics which show how minority races are being discriminated against.
Hence, the responsibility lies in the Malaysia government itself to publish unadulterated statistics of racial discrimination.
If the Malaysia government hides the statistics above, then there must be some evil doings, immoral doings, shameful doings and sinful doings, like the Nazis, going on with the non-Malays of Malaysia .
Civilized nations, unlike the evil Nazis, must publish statistics to show its treatment of its minority races. This is what Malaysia must publish.
We are asking for the publication of the statistics showing how 'implementation of special rights of Malays' had inflicted colossal racial discrimination onto non-Malays.

Untold Story about BTN-A Participant's Perspective Of Kursus Kenegaraan(BTN
To The Editor, The Star
Dear Sir,
A Participant's Perspective Of Kursus Kenegaraan(BTN)
It amuses me to note the rapacious back and forth regarding the Kursus
Kenegaraan organised by the Biro Tatanegara. However, i notice that
remarks defending the program have so far been based on perspectives
of certain Government officials, who may or may not have been
subjected to the charms of the program. As a serving Government
professional of non-Bumiputera descent, I feel it is pertinent that I
share my experience of this program, so that some objectivity may be
achieved in understanding the isssue at hand.
It is compulsory for all Govt. servants to attend this course once
during service. I attended the program in 2006, in a group of 80-odd
Malays and 9 non-Malays. We were a mix of doctors, dentists,
pharmacists and teachers. On the first day, we had to listen to a
series of 4 lectures, all delivered by lecturers from the local MARA
University campus. I vividly remember the 1st lecture on Kerakyatan,
for it was delivered with such fervour by an obviously inspired
lecturer. At times he seemed to go off his script and made several
references to 'other' races being 'pendatangs' and forgetting their
'place' in society, and not being grateful for the citizenship
'awarded' to them, and other remarks of a similar vein.
However what shocked me was when this lecturer, in a frenzied fit of
rage, asked the audience whether they knew that ALL Indians who
migrated here were from the PARIAH caste, and similarly all Chinese
who came here were also from the lower classes in their country of
origin. I was livid with rage that this supposed university lecturer
had the unabashed temerity to tar all Indians and Chinese with the
same brush, and make such an unsubstantiated sweeping statement that
may have been lapped up by the ill-informed as the gospel truth. From
that moment I was mentally tuned off from listening to further garbage
being spewed by this obvious racist. After ranting and raving for a
good forty minutes more, he mercifully concluded and invited questions
from the floor.
I immediately got up and proceeded to enquire on what basis the
lecturer made his sweeping statements, and if he was aware that aside
from indentured labourers, the British had brought educated Indians
and Ceylonese Tamils to serve in the civil service in pre-independence
Malaya. I then informed him that I was a 3rd generation civil servant,
and the last time I checked, I wasn't a PARIAH. By this time the
lecturer was squirming in discomfort, especially as the crowd
assembled there started to cheer me on. I sternly told the lecturer to
check his facts before he confuses others with blatant untruths.
The Chinese dentist that stood up after me was in no conciliatory mood
however. She blasted the lecturer outright by saying 'Saya berasa amat
offended by the remarks made by the lecturer); ianya sangat tidak adil
dan amat mengelirukan para hadirin di sini (it is an unfair statement
and can confuse the others assembled here).' Probably stung by the
truth of those comments, the lecturer tried to weasel out of the messy
situation by defending his statement which was made in a particular
context. But none of us were fooled, and we realised that this course
was an attempt to stereotype and racially profile the citizenry for
the benefit of a certain group to assert its 'ketuanan' on others.
Suffice to say, i was least interested in the ensuing activities,
especially the drill parade where we were forced to pray with arms
outstretched to maintain 'conformity', despite my usual method being
the traditional hands clasped in supplication.
Ultimately, the course made me despise the way the non-bumis were
treated, and served to reinforce the belief shared by many that it is
a brainwashing and indoctrination exercise to target the ill-informed
and the gullible. I am sure my Malay friends would (mostly) have
cringed in shame at the way their fellow citizens were humiliated and
made a mockery of.
Bottom line is, stay away from this course. It does no good and can
serve to divide the population.
Yours sincerely,
A Disappointed Civil Servant

Health Warning On Kangkung
Health Warning On Kangkung
Dear All,
Attached is an article forewarded by a psychiatrist from Klang Hospital.
I am sorry I do not have a copy of it in English. It actually narrates how a young boy died after eating the kangkung vegetable. He had gastro-enteritis(diarrhoea/vomiting)and was
admitted in hospital. Post mortem revealed that there were leeches in his intestines which has multiplied many times. The leech found its way through the stem of the kangkong vegetable. The stem is hollow and is normally cooked together with the leaves.
One of the precautions we can take is to slice the stems into two and wash it well before cooking.
Regards
Vasu

ADAKAH ANDA PENGGEMAR KANGKUNG?

Be Careful at Kuala Lumpur International Airport
BE EXTRA CAREFUL WHILE IN KLIA Pass it on..... let more people be aware of such things around them. Recently, a new type of crime has surfaced in town. It goes something like this:- Somebody slips a handphone into your pocket.
Sometimes it could be just a wallet with an identity card and a few ringgit. A few minutes later, the 'owner' comes up and confronts you, the 'thief '. He makes a big commotion that you stole his stuff.
You, caught unaware, are then pulled aside by the 'owner' for a settlement. You are intimidated and threatened that if you do not pay up, the police will be brought in. If you pay up, this 'owner' lets you go.
Another strange thing is that there always seems to be a 'witness' to your 'theft'. I am told this often happens to foreigners at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or even at LRT trains.
Given that you're 'guilty until proven innocent' as far as the Malaysian police are concerned, I understand some poor people are in jail for these 'offences'. At the KLIA, the 'owner' throws his handphone and wallet with the few ringgit notes into the luggage trolley of a just arrived passenger.
The drama unfolds a few minutes later. The real culprit has easily convinced our Malaysian police to arrest the real victim (if he has not paid up the 'settlement' demand). This is a very serious matter.
This is another form of extortionists operating in broad daylight. They are disgusting criminals who will do anything to rob and steal. The sickening part of the whole scenario is that unless you pay the "quoted settlement" money, they will put you in real trouble by calling the police. The real culprit gets back his handphone and the would be victim ( i.e. could be any one of us) is thrown into the police lock up and charged in court.
So do be very careful, otherwise you may end up as a "thief" as you have no way to prove your innocence.
Watch Out For Overcharging Taxi Drivers
If you intend to go out for a drink or see how the nightlife in Kuala Lumpur is, then I'd suggest that you should take this warning seriously.
After Midnight, there will be taxi drivers who are more than willing to take you back to your hotel with a condition that you agree not to use the meters and pay them a ridiculous amount.
I agree with some people that there's not much choice and the government is not doing much to help the passengers with this scam but they take advantage of the helpless tourists and even locals who aren't driving.
For a short trip, they would charge 4 to 5 times higher than the usual price. Be careful!

CAP gesa haramkan air botol plastik
Persatuan Pengguna Pulau Pinang (CAP) menggesa kerajaan mengharamkan penjualan air dalam botol plastik kerana ia boleh mengancam kesihatan dan alam sekitar.Presidennya, S.M.

Dr M oversaw PKFZ land valuation
Dr M oversaw PKFZ land valuation By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — Former transport minister Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik appeared to pass the buck over the costing and valuation of the Port Klang Free Trade Zone (PKFZ) land to his former boss, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. In the verbatim of the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) meeting procedures released yesterday, Ling said his ministry could only “state the fact that we wanted the land.” |
However, Ling pointed out that the costing and valuation of the land was determined by the Valuation and Property Services Department (JPPH) which was chaired by former prime minister and finance minister, Dr Mahathir. “Our job in Ministry of Transport is to only state the fact that we want the land. Costings, valuations and all that, it is not the function of the Ministry of Transport. We do not have a Valuation Department. “Costings and valuations is a question for the Treasury to deal with. They have the Valuation Department and everything is there, not in Ministry of Transport. I think Tun Dr Mahathir who chaired it, and he was the Finance Minister also. He saw it very clearly. That was the fact of the case,” he said in the verbatim. Dr Mahathir has remained relatively silent on the scandal which could cost taxpayers RM12.453 billion. PAC reported that the government would have spent RM442.13 and saved RM645.87 million if the land had been acquired for PKFZ in accordance with the Land Acquisition Act 1960. It also reported that the cost of the land was RM47.76 per square foot, or 67 per cent higher than the RM25 fixed by the JPPH. The 405ha PKFZ transhipment hub, which has warehouses, office blocks and a four-star hotel, has been dogged by controversy ever since it was revealed that its original development cost had ballooned from less than RM2.5 billion to up to RM4.6 billion. There were also questions about the possible kickbacks after it was disclosed that several individuals acquired the piece of land where the PKFZ now sits at RM3 per sq ft in 1999. Dr Mahathir had said that he heard that the project was being plagued by problems but claimed that nobody reported to him of any wrongdoing. PKFZ ran into further problems when the management company, Jebel Ali Free Zone International, terminated its contract in 2007. Chan was dropped as Barisan Nasional candidate for the last general election and subsequently lost his job largely due to the way the PKFZ debacle was handled. PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) also reported that the project outlay of RM4.947 billion will go up to RM7.453 billion due to interest payments and Port Klang Authority (PKA) must restructure the loan or it will balloon to RM12.453 billion by 2051. |

Part of the Do'a Iftitah:"Verily my solats, my ibadah, my life and my death I surrender to Almighty Allah, Creator and Lord of all the worlds. Never will I associate anything with Him. So am I commanded and I am of those who are Muslims."Assalamualaikum saudara saudari Muslimin Muslimat sekelian.

NEW WAY TO DO CAR JACKING (Malaysia)
You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside.
You start the engine and shift into Reverse.
When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and
jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.
When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.
And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.
So now the car jacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home
and your whole identity are now compromised!
BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED....
If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this e-mail/blog.
