Congratulation to Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAGM) for coming up with the noble idea of rewarding informants who can prove Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s alleged corruption. I love it. Malaysians can all go information hunting now for the bounty.

The members of this group must be a bunch of honest and sincere people themselves – and generous to boot, considering the RM1 million they are offering. I assume they have plenty more stashed somewhere.

However, while the idea is good, the implementation has been flawed right from the start.

You see, you should not name your target before you have any evidence on him. If CAGM fails to get any evidence on Mahathir, it will be an easy target for a RM1 billion defamation suit by the former prime minister.

Is RM1 billion too much? Certainly not, since Mahathir is a global personality and he was the PM for 22 years. Furthermore, in the age of the Internet, a defamatory statement spreads across the world instantly.

So, how can CAGM achieve its objective? I suggest that it widen its target. It should check on all prime ministers, deputy prime ministers, chief ministers, secretaries-general, directors-general, municipality presidents and many more officials – past and present.

So, CAGM, get the billions ready. This is much better than BRIM because we have to earn it.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 — The DAP wants the Education Ministry to decide once and for all its policy on the medium of instruction for mathematics and science in national schools to enhance the country’s future global competitiveness.

Party adviser Lim Kit Siang lauded today Putrajaya’s move to continue the teaching of maths and science in English — better known by its Malay acronym PPSMI — until the current batch of students complete their secondary school education, but warned that it was only a short-term fix.

“It is not a satisfactory long-term solution to address the problems of raising the standards of English, mathematics and science among our students so that Malaysia can enhance its international competitiveness with the rest of the world,” the Ipoh-Timur MP said in a statement.

Dr Marie Aimee Tourres, a senior research fellow in Universiti Malaya’s department of development studies, was reported as saying Malaysian graduates were less marketable than their regional peers due to a poor command of the English language.

“In Pakistan, although the people speak different dialects next to the Urdu language, their English is better than our graduates,” she was quoted as saying by English daily The Star.

Former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was also reported as urging the government to be less fickle-minded on education policies to avoid troubling the younger generation.

Lim warned the ruling Barisan Nasional government that without a fully-planned permanent solution, the education policy is likely to come back and haunt it in future.

He said the ongoing row to replace PPSMI with a pro-Bahasa Malaysia policy was a result of the government’s headlong rush to introduce it to national schools in 2002.

He said that teachers, especially those in based in rural national schools, were ill-prepared to teach the two subjects in English.

The pro-English policy for maths and science was mooted by then-Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad towards the end of his term in 2003, to steer Malaysia forward on the path to innovation.

(1) Of the five major banks, only one is multi-racial, the rest are controlled by Malays.

(2) 99% of Petronas directors are Malays.

(3) 3% of Petronas employees are non-Malays.

(4) 99% of 2000 Petronas gasoline stations are owned by Malays.

(5) 100% of all contractors working under Petronas projects must be of Bumi status.

(6) 0% of non-Malay staff is legally required in Malay companies. But there must be 30% Malay staffs in non-Malay companies.

(7) 5% of all new intakes for government police, nurses, army, are non-Malays.

(8) 2% is the present Chinese staff in Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), a drop from 40% in 1960.

(9) 2% is the percentage of non-Malay government servants in Putrajaya, but Malays make up 98%.

(10) 7% is the percentage of Chinese government servants in the entire government (in 2004); a drop from 30% in 1960.

(11) 95% of government contracts are given to Malays.

(12) 100% of all business licensees are controlled by Malays, e..g. Taxi permits, Approved permits, etc.

(13) 80% of the Chinese rice millers in Kedah had to be sold to Malay controlled Bernas in the1980s. Otherwise, life would be made difficult for Chinese rice millers.

Malay transport companies due to rejection by Malay authorities to Chinese applications for bus routes and rejection of their applications for new buses.

(16) Two Chinese taxi drivers were barred from driving in Johor Larkin bus station. There are about 30 taxi drivers and three were Chinese in Oct. 2004. Spoiling taxi club properties was the reason given.

(18) 8000 billion ringgit is the total amount the government channeled to Malay pockets through ASB, ASN, MARA, privatization of government agencies, Tabung Haji etc, through NEP over a 34 years period.

of what Malay villages got for rural development budget.

(40) 3000 mosques/suraus were built in all housing estates
throughout Malaysia since 1970. No temples or churches are
required to be built in housing estates.

(41) 1 Catholic church in Shah Alam took 20 years to apply to have
a building constructed. But they were told by Malay authority
that it must look like a factory and not like a church. As of 2004
the application still has not been approved.

(42) 1 publishing of a Bible in the Iban language was banned (in 2002).

(43) 0 of the government TV stations (RTM1, RTM2, TV3) have
directors of non-Malay origin.

(44) 30 government produced TV dramas and films always showed that
the bad guys had non-Malay faces, and the good guys had
Malay faces. You can check it out since 1970s. Recent years, this has
become less of a tendency.

(45) 10 times, at least, Malays (especially Umno) had threatened to
massacre the Chinese Malaysians using May 13, since 1969.

(46) 20 constituencies won by DAP would not get funds from the
government to develop. These Chinese majority constituencies
would be the last to be developed.

(47) 100 constituencies (parliaments and states) had been racially
re-delineated so that Chinese votes were diluted for Chinese candidates.
This is one of the main reasons why DAP candidates have consistently
lost in elections since the 1970s. (update to 2008 needed)

(48) Only 3 out of 12 human rights items are ratified by the Malaysian
government since 1960.

(49) 0 - elimination of all forms of racial discrimination (UN Human Rights)
has not been ratified by the Malaysian government since 1960s.

non-Malay patients inhumanely, and Malay government hospital
staffs purposely delayed attending to non-Malay patients in 2003.
Unreported cases may be 200.

(51) 20 cases every year whereby Chinese drivers who accidentally
knocked down Malays were seriously assaulted or killed by Malays.

(52) 12% is what ASB/ASN got per annum while banks fixed deposits
are only about 3.5% per annum.

There are hundreds more examples of racial discrimination in Malaysia to
add to this list.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday said the Orang Asli did not have more rights than the Malays to claim Malaysia as their own, as they did not set up their own states and governments.

The former prime minister said giving Orang Asli greater rights to claim Malaysia as their own would be like handing back the United States, Australia and New Zealand to the Native American, Maori and aborigine natives of those countries respectively.

“In Malaysia, the Orang Asli are as much citizens of the country as are the people of other races. They had never set up their own states and governments,” he wrote in his blog yesterday.

Malaysia’s longest-serving prime minister said that when Europeans and even the Japanese occupiers came to Malaysia, they had dealt with and acknowledged the Malay governments.

Dr Mahathir, who is now patron of right-wing Malay rights group Perkasa, has been vigorously defending the special position of Malays of late, and last week dismissed claims that Malays are immigrants just like Chinese and Indians.

Although admitting his Indian roots, he argued that Arabs, Indians and Indonesians who adopted the Malay language, practised Malay culture and embraced Islam have become constitutional Malays through assimilation.

“I would not say I am a Malay or Malaysian of ethnic Indian origin. My mother tongue and home language is Malay, my culture and tradition is Malay and I am a Muslim. The constitution defines a Malay as a person who habitually speaks Malay, practises Malay custom and tradition and is a Muslim,” he had said.

“If we consider that the Orang Asli have more rights to claim Malaysia as their own then we should acknowledge and respect the rights of the Red Indians, the Maoris, the Australian aborigines and all the other aborigines to be given back the land we now call America, Australia, New Zealand, etc.

“Perhaps in recognition of their rights, they are now not so ill-treated and killed as they were when the Europeans seized their lands. But this is not the same as declaring that the countries belong to the people originally found there,” he said.

Dr Mahathir, who was PM from 1981 to 2003, also said that while the Aztecs and Mayans had established governments in South America before Europeans settled in the region, their Spanish and Portuguese conquerors were now considered as natives of the land.

He said that Malaysia’s former colonial masters — the British, Portuguese and Dutch — recognised the Malay states and signed treaties with them.

The Japanese who occupied Malaysia during World War II also acknowledged the Malay states, he added.

“Of course when the British came back, they had to gain the assent of the Malay rulers in order to set up the Malayan Union. All subsequent agreements were with Malay rulers and Malay political leaders,” he wrote.

“It is important to note that the Malay rulers only recognised Malays as their natural ‘rakyat’. They also recognised ‘Orang Asli’ and non-Malays who had been assimilated as ‘rakyat’. However, non-Malays who continued to identify themselves with their countries of origin were not regarded as rakyat,” Dr Mahathir said.

He wrote that after the Malayan Union was formed in 1946, the concept of citizenship was introduced but still those “recognised as rakyat of the rulers were acknowledged through what came to be regarded as special positions,” referring to the special position of the Malays and native tribes in the constitution.

Dr Mahathir claimed that the right of non-Bumiputeras to practise their own culture was also “a special position.”

“The constitution also made it clear that the non-Malay citizens also have special position. Thus they may retain their original identity, use their own [mother tongue] and perpetuate their own culture. They also have the right to teach in their own languages in government supported primary schools and can set up their own private secondary schools,” he wrote.

He claimed, however, that Malaysians would like to see the end of all special privileges, and so Malaysians should be “speaking and teaching in one national language, practitioners of one national culture, and owing loyalty only to this beloved country, Malaysia.”

Dr Mahathir has in recent years stepped up his defence of the constitutional position of the Malays, resulting in accusations that he was playing the race card in an attempt to shore up support for Umno.

Since making significant gains in the 2008 general election, the opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has been pushing for reforms to the country’s affirmative action policies which are widely seen as favouring the Malay-Bumiputera communities.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is expected to call for a general election in either late 2011 or early 2012, with investors and Malaysians waiting to see if he will implement reforms to match his rhetoric after a series of policy reversals.

While Najib liberalised some parts of the economy, he has shied away from big subsidy cuts or tax reforms and softened an earlier stand on reforming preferential equity ownership rules for the Malays.

Analysts expect Najib may be willing to push through reforms after the next general election, but only if he wins a strong mandate.

If he fails to restore Barisan Nasional’s two-thirds parliamentary majority, he will likely come under heavier pressure from Malay activist groups such as Perkasa who are opposed to what they view as the dismantling of “Malay constitutional rights”.

Is this the sign of things to come in Malaysia? The organisers of
former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad's talk on the 'Malay race and the
future' banned non-Malay reporters and television crews. Reporters
today, who next tomorrow?

And Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak just looks on pathetically?

The talk at the Tun Hussein Onn Memorial is an insult to Hussein Onn's
memory. He was highly regarded for fostering racial unity. His
firmness against anyone creating racial unrest, earned him the
soubriquet Bapa Perpaduan or 'Father of Unity'.

When will we accept that the solution to the problem Malaysia faces
can only be resolved when the Malays come out of their self-imposed
coma?

As a Malay who has benefited from higher education and exposure to
what the world has to offer, I am appalled at what Mahathir and Umno's leaders are doing to
the Malays.

Instead of leading us into the 21st century, they are still talking
about the golden age of yesteryear.

Instead on embracing change and catching up with the rest of the
world, we are still debating who this country belongs to.

Instead of being enthused by all the exciting changes that are
happening elsewhere in the world, we act like children in the
playground, and refuse to yield to reason.

It is simple; this country belongs to all Malaysians who are prepared
to work hard to see the country prosper. Its citizens will benefit
from the collective effort of the people.

In his talk, Mahathir said everyone had to accept that Malaysia
belongs to the Malays and that the country belongs to the culture and
language of the dominant community; however he added that 'Bangsa
Malaysia' has helped strengthen national unity.

Isn't this a contradiction of terms? How can you have 'Bangsa Malaysia' and a
country just for the Malays?

In his opinion, all races must accept that they are from 'Bangsa
Malaysia' to allow better cooperation between the different races and
guarantee the future of the country. Didn't he also say that the
country belongs to the Malay race? Don't these remarks clash?

He said: “…. Peninsular Malaysia was known as Tanah Melayu……. We must
be sincere and accept that the country is Tanah Melayu.”

He explained that the country's forefathers gave the Chinese and
Indians citizenship because they expected the communities to respect
Malay sovereignity.

He is telling the non-Malays that they are second-class citizens here.
He conveniently overlooks the non-Malays who have been more than
willing to identify themselves as Malaysian rather than by
their racial origin.

How dare he say that Malays will feel less threatened if the country
adopts the concept of 'Bangsa Malaysia'?

Insecurities exploited

Malays feel threatened because Mahathir keeps telling them that if the
relax their guard, they will be trampled by the non-Malays and that
the country will be sold to the Chinese.

Mahathir and the succession of Umno leaders are not leading the
country forward. Instead of opening up the Malay mind, they are
closing it.

Umno leaders are leading the Malays into a comatose state. Just like a
person in a coma, who is able to hear outside influences, the Malay
mind is unable to contribute towards the conversation and get out of
his vegetative state.

These leaders have worked on the Malay psyche to further their
personal cause. The Malays have always been a feudalistic and
fatalistic race.

Instead of bringing out the best in
them, these leaders have worked on their insecurities and kept them
hopeless and pessimistic.

The non-Malays who came to Malaya were spurred by adversity and knew
that they had to work to make a success of their lives.

Not so the Malays who had always enjoyed the bountiful harvests of the
land - the rivers, seas or the smallholding that they could cultivate
whatever they wanted.

What Umno leaders have done is to control the Malays because - that
way - they control their personal fortunes.

Mahathir and Najib may have tried to give the impression that they
disagree with each other. Mahathir champions 'Bangsa Malaysia' and
denigrates Najib's '1Malaysia' concept. They hope that between them
they will win over all the Malays.

Grip on power

Only a fool would be deceived by that ploy. The truth is that
both Mahathir and Najib are one another's keepers.

If Mahathir falls, Najib knows he has no more protection and
vice-versa. It also applies to the rest of the Umno/BN hierarchy. Thus
it is important they keep their clique going for as long as is
possible.

Mahathir has the extremist Perkasa to release on the wider community.
The Malays who do not believe in such extremist views simply fall into
Najib's lap. That way the Malays are still under their control.

The Malay mindset has to change. There are many who think like me but
are fearful of speaking out for fear of a public backlash. That is
understandable.

If they continually stay in the shadows, how will their children and
grandchildren benefit? The policies of this BN government are not
based on fairness and equality. Not everyone can aspire to be an
Umnoputra.

They must realise that the method employed by Mahathir and
Najib is one of control. They keep the Malays hopeless and in a state
of pessimism. They frighten the Malays into thinking that if they are
not careful, the non-Malays will dominate their lives. Mahathir and
Najib are skilled in demoralising people.

Malays like me have managed to get out from under our tempurung. Malay
women like me have had to fight various forms of discrimination to
enjoy the benefits that the world has to offer those who are prepared
to work hard.

We did not do this in isolation but with the assistance of everyone:
male and female, young and old, non-Malay and Malay, Muslim and
non-Muslim.

Our fear is that extremist views will hamper the efforts of women to
improve themselves in the modern world. This is already happening with
the influence of ultra-religious views.

People like Mahathir and Najib know that their power is secured for as
long as they can control the Malay mind.

They both know that educated and confident people are much harder to
control and hence to govern.

CITIZENS TO PENDATANGS - FROGS ON A SLOW BOIL

I am no science buff but remember reading about putting frogs in cold water and then slowly putting the water to boil.The frogs (unlike the Perak species) will die as they will be unaware of the change in temperature that will ultimately prove fatal.

Dear Malaysian brethren of whatever ilk - we will suffer the same fate as the innocent frogs if we let the country spiral to another Iran or Pakistan.
I am - in today's parlance - a 3rd generation pendatang. Lets call it GENPENTIGA - Generasi Pendatang Tiga. I suppose it can't be that bad when a GENPENDUA became PM for 22 years. But then he metamorphosed into a Malay and cut his Indian roots - only to go back to Kerala recently to see if there were any offshoots, I suppose, or perhaps some trait of mortality dictated that he visit his roots in his autumn days.
I look at my children GENPEMPAT - Generasi Pendatang Empat and wonder what place they have left under our sun. Should I leave them in the water where they are comfortable or kick them out of their 'comfort water'? Old frogs like me might as well die in the Malaysian water anyway - we are fast reaching our 'sell by' date.
I would like to share, if I may, some developments and events that have brought me to this juncture and by doing so, hope that the GENPEMPAT open their eyes wider and see beyond what meets the eye. These are in no order of priority - but illustrate the point to me nonetheless.

Fuad Stephens
I am no East Malaysian but I remember how he perished in a plane crash with a few others. What if his plane was sabotaged? What would have been if this did not happen? Would Sabah be the same as it is today - with millions of new Malaysians? Would he have stood up to the shenanigans in KL? Would Malaysia be the same today?

Perak Heist
What played out in the 'transfer' back to BN control opened my eyes as to what could happen on a Federal level. If the elected Speaker can be literally dragged out of his seat, what is there to suggest they can't drag you out of your house? Remember, you are a PENDATANG. Of course, his replacement could not be a Malay so they had to get another PENDATANG to be the puppet - to try and even the score. The new MB is also a PENDATANG but he has the right qualification as PM GENPENDUA - if you get my drift.

Selangor
The goings on currently in Selangor mirror Perak to some degree. The previous MB - also a GENPENDUA but with the deemed suitable qualifications ran the administration like a bandit in Java but still has not been brought to the 14th floor in Shah Alam to coerce some information from him about how he managed to have such a successful dental practice to be able to own a palace bigger than what he could have seen in Java.

Pendatangs beware. If your children are getting married soon, even the next day, keep them under 'house arrest' for their own safety. Every time my kids go out, we worry till they are back safe. If you work for the 'wrong' boss, it could cost you your life. But then, if you work for the 'right ' boss, you may save your life and yet lose your soul. So PENDATANGS, choose between your life and your soul.

Kugan
I ask myself, if the same fate would have been met if it was someone with a fairer complexion or at least the same 'qualification' as the ex-MB of the same state in which he died. Kugan and his type are today seen as an 'inconvenience', pests, scroungers and lately even christened 'pariahs'. I suspect Kugan had deeper roots in Malaysia than the ex-MB. Whatever wrong he may have done, the video clips of his relatives barging into the mortuary and the outpouring of anguish left a lasting impression. In the same vein, when one of my staff was killed in a motor accident, the records at the mortuary showed that the cause of death was 'MABUK'. He was a teetotaller. On my insistence and with the timely arrival of the foreign pathologist who was employed there, the records were corrected. Just because he was of Indian origin, it was felt apt to put in 'MABUK"!

History Syllabus
In the school that I went to (VI), we were taught history only till Form 3 - unless you did Arts in Forms 4 & 5. My children were both Science stream students till Form 5 but they had to do History. I had a peek at their textbooks - seems like History has changed a fair bit. They are fed rubbish, to put it mildly. It is HIS STORY as told and imagined by a few bigots. My daughter's book had an image of a Sikh with a turban - but with the description Orang Bengali!. Don't they know that Bengalis are from Bengal and Sikhs are Punjabis - from Punjab?
I suppose this is is to be expected when many wear the mantle of 'Malay' despite coming from all corners of Asia - they have tried to lose trace of where they originate. Turks, Arabs, Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Cambodians, Thais are all re-badged Malays. We now await the Africans, Caucasians and Eskimos to join ranks and be members of UMNO Baru. A relative of Obama might yet lead Malaysia.

SPM Answer Scripts
When my children sat for their SPM examinations a few years ago, they had to tick a box to indicate if they were Muslim or not. Was it because they were in need of divine intervention in the event they are not Muslim? Or were the scripts marked according to whether they were halal or not?

Matriculation Courses
It is widely accepted that the successor to the HSC - the STPM, is a tough examination. But stroll into an STPM class and you will observe that the Bumi students are conspicuously less. They are doing matriculation which we are led to believe is on par with STPM for entry to local universities. GENPEMPAT are likewise conspicuously less in matriculation courses. The intakes to universities are then claimed to be on merit - despite being based on different examinations. With all this, how does one unify a nation?

The very fact that there is an attempt to copyright this word shows acute insecurity. In Pakistan, I was greeted with 'Assalammulaikum' during my work visits there. To them, it was just being polite and civil. Here, it becomes 'confusing' and threatening. The fact that the Catholic church won a High Court case in this matter only to have it appealed with no hearing date in sight illustrates the insecurity and illuminates the deceit of the authorities.

The flushing in of these aliens over a concentrated period of time had a very sinister motive. Pendatangs should always be conscious of this. In Malay I call it NIAT JAHAT. The parallel that comes to mind for me is Ali Jinnah and his actions in carving out Pakistan (history as I learned many, many years after leaving school) from pre-independence India. Till today, Pakistan knows no peace for a sustained time.

Judiciary
The man in the street seeks justice on earth in the courts. Our judicial system simply fails the test on perception alone. Our history books as they stand are not going to record how this institution degenerated into the sewers by the actions of 1 man principally. The AG has an image problem (and I am not referring to his face). The CJ is supposed to be on record as having admitted to bribing clerks or junior staff to get things moving during his time as a lawyer. Add to that he was an UMNO member. Pendatang - do you see the writing on the wall?

Scaling Mt Everest
2 of the mountaineers who reached the summit were of Indian origin. Rumour has it that the premier at the time was dismayed that the leader couldn't be there instead due to blisters on his feet. The injured leader however, never begrudged them and shared in the joy of the conquest. One of the 2 has since died and his widow is still bewildered over the snatching of his body on claims that her husband had 'masuk Islam'. Pendatang, when you die, your wife may be subject to so many hassles you wonder if it was worth conquering Everest. Your carcass is more important than your conquest. (I use the term 'carcass' deliberately.)

This Pendatang is now a Chief Minister and doing a damn good job - in between ducking attacks form Utusan and Umno and their stooges. But remember he went to jail for speaking up for a victim of rape. From a perverse point of view, was it because he was a Pendatang and the alleged perpetrator was not? Pity there wasn't Wikileaks then.

Cow head Incident
Blatant, flagrant, insulting. But not as dangerous as a candlelight vigil with women taking part. Whilst the cow's head went on display in Shah Alam, the Home Minister went on display to show the cow brains over television. That the police allowed them to bring it all the way to the MB's office gate shows their partiality as far as I am concerned. Mark this episode, Pendatangs.

RELA
Malaysia's own fifth column. Just observe how they move about like uniformed thugs - especially raiding foreign workers' quarters. They are just insecure bullies garbed in state sponsored uniforms. Many are not in it for love of country. More for love of money - from extortions. Close parallel to what exists in Iran. Ideal source for extra judicial activities - so Pendatangs, be wary. Also 'progressive/liberal/moderate Muslims need to be aware. Again, just like what happened over the years in Iran and Pakistan.

PROTON
A car I have vowed never to buy - for what it represents. Aggregate all the money to protect this deity, we could have used the same to fund a decent public transport system in the country. Like others taken for a ride, I beamed with 'pride' when the first car was launched. Now, it has become a mirror of the NEP implementation - overpriced, under performing, waste of resources. I suspect the hidden agenda behind this project was to have a HALAL car.

BUKA PUASA
My Muslim friends tell me that Buka Puasa is a time to have a simple meal to break the fast. What we are having on display is an orgy of gluttony. Tables in hotels overflow onto passageways and corridors for this time of year. And many a time, the host of a table is a Pendatang. The guests come sometimes shamelessly comparing the offerings at different hotels in front of their paying hosts. Is there any meaning left in this supposedly holy month?

Legacy of Mahathir
There is no denying his intellect. Unfortunately, I will remember him as the person who singularly destroyed what Malaysia was to me. No need to elucidate - it is there for all to see.

Semuanya berubah apabila dasar penswastaan diperkenalkan. Dasar penswastaan adalah dasar kapitalis di mana semua hak milik rakyat yang di bawah jagaan kerajaan dijualkan kepada orang ramai. Sebenarnya penswastaan ini adalah satu projek silap mata dimana harta rakyat disonglap oleh para kroni.

Sebelum dasar penswastaan diperkenalkan oleh Mahathir Muhamad bekalan air untuk warga diseluruh negara dikendali dan diuruskan oleh PWD - Public Works Department atau Jabatan Kerja Raya – JKR.

PWD/JKR ini bukan syarikat kroni dan tidak pernah berniat untuk mencari untung. Tidak ada individu atau Pun Seri yang memiliki saham dalam lembaga JKR. Saham JKR dimiliki oleh seluruh warga Malaysia kerana JKR ini adalah harta awam. Jabatan ini bertugas untuk menjaga kebajikan orang ramai. Berkhidmat untuk kebajikan semua warga negara adalah niat dan rukun iman JKR.

Semuanya berubah apabila dasar penswastaan diperkenalkan. Dasar penswastaan adalah dasar kapitalis di mana semua hak milik rakyat yang di bawah jagaan kerajaan dijualkan kepada orang ramai. Sebenarnya penswastaan ini adalah satu projek silap mata dimana harta rakyat disonglap oleh para kroni.

Caranya bagini:

Loji air dan semua yang bersangkutan dengan pembekalan air sebelum penswastaan adalah milik orang ramai. Penswastaan adalah dasar dimana harta milik orang ramai ini diambil alih dan difaraidkan kepada para kroni, cukong dan mereka yang berduit untuk membeli sham.

Cara mengfaraidkan harta orang ramai ini kepada kroni cukup senang – tak perlu silap mata. Loji dan semua yang bersangkutan dengan air yang awalnya milik orang ramai ini diubah suai untuk dijadikan sebuah syarikat. Lalu Menteri Keewangan meletakkan nilai terhadap saham air syarikat ini.

Kementerian keewangan mengeluarkan pink form. Tertera di pink form inilah jumlah saham yang telah difaraidkan kepada sang kroni. Sang kroni atau kawan atau kenalan Pak Menteri boleh membawa pink form ini ke bank. Bank dengan berbesar hati akan menyediakan pinjaman berlandaskan jumlah saham yang tertera di pink form. Pinjaman dari bank ini untuk membolehkan sang kroni membeli saham yang akan diapongkan.

Sebelum ini Menteri Keewangan akan meletakan harga terhadap saham air disyarikat baru ini. Biasanya akan dinilai dengan harga yang agak rendah. Ini untuk memastikan mereka yang dapat anugerah saham dan pink form akan dapat menjualkan balik dengan harga yang lebih mahal. Saham ini diapongkan – kerana dinilai murah - maka apabila diapongkan ramai pembeli sanggup membeli dengan harga yang mahal.

Maka tuan empunya pink form dan tuan empuya saham akan menjualkan saham dengan harga mahal. Inilah cara dasar penswastaan dimana kaum kerabat, kroni dan elit kawan kawan United Malays National Organisation dapat membuat – bukan mee segera tapi duit segera.

Justeru – para kroni, anak bini, kaum keluarga dan kawan kawan Pak Menteri akan jadi kaya raya melalui dasar penswastaan ini. Kerana mereka semua ini mendapat manafaat maka pastilah mereka akan menyokong dasar ini hingga ke liang lahad.

Tetapi bukankah amat jelas dasar penswastaan – memfaraidkan harta orang ramai - ini adalah kerja merompak di siang hari?

Betul. Ini satu rompakan resmi melalui penswastaan. Ini adalah dasar yang diajukan oleh United Malays National Organisation. Rompakan ini juga menggunakan parlimen untuk menghalalkan cara merembat harta orang ramai. Inilah caranya bagaimana air rakyat Selangor tetiba dimiliki oleh syarikat Syabas.

Kesah rompakan ini diteruskan lagi :

Untuk memastikan harta rompakan ini akan terus membawa keuntungan, United Malays National Organisation telah mengikat perjanjian dengan Syabas ketika menjual harta rakyat ini. Dalam perjanjian jual beli ini United Malays National Organisation telah memastikan setiap dua atau tiga tahun harga air wajib dinaikkan.

Kenapa kah ini berlaku? Tidak kah sesiapa nampak akan butir isi perjanjian ini?

Rompakan ini cukup licik – orang yang merompak dan orang yang membuat perjanjian adalah malaon yang sama. Ertinya Pak Menteri yang bertanggung jawab membuat perjanjian adalah juga pemegang saham dalam syarikat yang di swastakan ini. Pelik? Silap mata? Tidak!

Kalau diselidik nama menteri ini pasti tidak akan ditemui. Menteri ini bukan bangang. Pak Menteri akan menggunakan pelbagai cara – lihat bagaimana Khir Toyo menggunakan si pemandu pribadinya untuk menerima geran tanah seluas 200 ekar. Semua boleh diurus. Ini dasar Malaysia boleh!

Perlu diberitahu bahawa surat perjanjian ini tidak pernah diketahui oleh orang ramai. Perjanjian antara Syabas dan kerajaan Selangor telah menjadi rahsia dan jatuh di bawah Akta Rahsia Kerajaan. Ini lah cara si perompak merompak harta orang ramai dan menjaga hasil rompakan mereka.

Hanya apabila kerjaaan Selangor ditadbir oleh Pakatan Rakyat barulah diketahui semua isi perjanjian ini. Kerajaan Selangor telah membakul sampahkan Akta Rahsia Kerajaan. Sekarang semua maklumat kerajaan Selangor boleh ditemui tidak ada lagi yang berahsia rahsia. Rahsia Syabas sudah kantoi!

Hari ini kerajaan Pakatan di Selangor ingin mengambil alih kembali syarikat air Syabas. Ertinya dikembalikan kepada kedudukan asal dimana air dan semua yang bersangkutan dengan air di Selangor bukan milik syarikat atau saham individu tetapi milik kerajaan. Dari syarikat swasta dikembalikan untuk menjadi hak milik orang ramai sekali lagi.

Kenapa kerajaan Pakatan Selangor berbuat demikian?

Semenjak tahun 1997 apabila air di Selangor di swastakan amat jelas ianya telah merugikan orang ramai. Syarikat air Syabas selama 10 tahun ini telah dijadikan lombong emas untuk memperkayakan para kroni dan kaum keluarga. Buktinya amat jelas. Ini bukan fitnah dan tohmah. Bukti ini muncul dari laporan audit tahunan yang diteliti oleh kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat Selangor.

Tahukah warga Selangor dan warga Malaysia anak semua bangsa: bahawa gaji CEO Syabas, Tan Sri Rozali Ismail ialah 5.1 juta ringgit setahun atau 425,000 ringgit sebulan. Bayangkan kalau 5 juta ringgit ini duit lima sen sudah tenggelam seluruh tasik air di Hulu Langat.

Perlu juga diberitahu dari laporan audit ini, syarikat Syabas ini telah memberikan 72% kontrek bernilai 600 juta ringgit kepada syarikat kroni melalui rundingan sap sap sui. Juga dari laporan yang sama telah diketahui bagaiman 325 juta ringgit ‘tenggelam lesap’ entah kemana.

Melihatkan ini maka kerajaan Selangor sedang bertempur kuat untuk mengambil alih kembali kawalan terhadap syarikat Syabas. Sekarang ini warga Selangor telah mendapat 20 kubik meter air percuma. Air percuma ini diberi ketika Syabas masih lagi syarikat swasta. Bayangkan jika Syabas ini milik orang ramai. Berapa banyak keuntungan yang dapat kita sama sama rasa. Bukan hanya Tan Sri Ghazali sahaja yang dapat minum champagne Dom Perignon – malah seluruh warga Selangor dapat berenang dengan duit yang telah diselamatkan dari dirompak.

Apa yang sedang dilakukan oleh kerjaan Pakatan Rakyat di Selangor ini adalah permulaan untuk mengembalikan hak rakyat. Mengembalikan harta rakyat yang telah difaraidkan oleh Mahathir Muhamad dan konco-konconya. Perjuangan untuk mengembalikan hak rakyat masih jauh lagi. Api, lebuh raya, hospital, klinik – adalah diantara harta rakyat yang telah dirompak melalui dasar penswastaan.

Orang ramai – anak semua bangsa – tidak ada pilihan melainkan menolak dasar penswastaan. Amat jelas dasar ini adalah dasar yang tidak membawa kebajikan untuk orang ramai. Dasar ini hanya membawa laba, untung, kekayaan dan kebajikan untuk pemilik saham.

Justru marilah kita turun sama berjuang di jalan raya pada 5 Disember ini. Pada hari Ahad yang akan datang ini warga Selangor akan berkumpul di Masjid Negara. Warga Selangor akan bersama Menteri Besar dan pimpinan Pakatan Rakyat untuk berarak menyampaikan memo kepada Yang Dipertuan Agong. Memo menuntut hak air mereka dipulangkan kembali.

Anak semua bangsa mari kita bersetikawan dan bersolidariti dengan warga Selangor yang berjuang untuk mendapatkan hak air mereka Hari ini air Selangor - esok api leterik dan hospital yang perlu kita sama-sama perjuangkan.

KEPALA BATAS: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said claims that the party had leaked information on PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy case to Singapore as exposed in the WikiLeaks, was a baseless accusation.

Lim said the accusations levelled at DAP were just an effort to discredit the party.

He added that DAP did not have any diplomatic relationship with the Singapore government, let alone the Singapore intelligence.

“So, where did the WikiLeaks information come from? Diplomatic relations? Currently DAP has no powers to establish any kind of diplomatic relationship. So, what kind of relationship do we have with the Singapore intelligence?” he told reporters at the Pakatan Rakyat Convention here on Sunday.

On Saturday, former head of Selangor PKR Youth Hamidzun Khairuddin wanted DAP to clarify how Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew knew of Anwar’s alleged sodomy activities that were exposed in the WikiLeaks website recently.

Hamidzun was reported to have said that it was no secret that DAP had a close political relationship with the Singapore government, especially with Lee.

He added that details and confidential information of Anwar’s sodomy case was with DAP chairman Karpal Singh since he was representing Anwar in the sodomy case.-Bernama

Sedap membaca sejarah ciptaan Dr Mahathir.
YB Bayan Baru Zaharin Hashim mencadangkan supaya supaya gelaran yang dianugerahkan kepada Anwar Ibrahim ditarik balik oleh mana Raja-Raja Melayu yang telah menganugerahkan gelaran-gelaran kepada Anwar dahulu. Zaharin telah menuduh Anwar mempersoalkan isu ketuanan Melayu didalam perhimpunan agung Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) baru-baru ini.

Zaharin menganggap Anwar tidak wajar menyimpan gelaran kerana tidak bersama membina apa yang dihebohkan oleh pemimpin Melayu yang beretorik tentang ketuanan Melayu. Zaharin menempelak Anwar kerana kononnya PKR tidak mahu bersama memperjuangkan ketuanan Melayu dan oleh sebab itu segala gelaran yang diterima Anwar wajar ditarik balik.

Media perdana telah memberikan liputan cadangan Zaharin ini dan Anwar telah menjawab yang itu adalah anugerah Tuanku-Tuanku yang berkaitan dan beliau tidak pernah merayu dan mengemis untuk mendapatkan gelaran-gelaran tersebut.

Bagi saya samada gelaran itu ditarik balik atau dikekalkan bukanlah menjadi isu tetapi saya mengambil persepsi yang Zaharin membuat kenyataan ini semata-mata kerana perasaan peribadinya terhadap Anwar semata-mata. Pada hal Zaharinlah yang menjunjung Anwar semasa gerakkan reformasi dan seterusnya mendapat tempat diDewan Legislative dan sekarang digelar Yang Berhormat.

Saya bukan hendak mempertahankan Anwar kerana saya sendiri tidak ada perasaan apa-apa terhadap pemimpin ini kerana Anwar bukanlah pemimpin yang saya kagumi. Tetapi apa yang saya persoalkan ialah Zaharin bukannya berkata-kata kepada landasan kejujuran tetapi oleh kerana ‘persona non grata’ beliau terhadap Anwar sahaja.

Kalau isu kelalaian Anwar terhadap bangsa Melayu mewajarkan gelaran ditarik balik, maka hampir kesemua pemimpimpin UMNO sepatutnya ditarik gelaran Datuk Seri, Datuk, Tan Sri dan sebagainya. Zaharin sepatutnya menyarankan gelaran kepada Dr Mahathir dilucutkan kerana beliau mengepalai barisan pimpinan UMNO (Baru) menghina Raja-Raja Melayu semasa krisis prlembagaan yang dicetuskan oleh UMNO yang diketuai oleh Dr Mahathir serta Ghaffar Baba pada tahun 1993 dahulu.

Semasa itu Perlembagaan Persekutuan telah melarang Raja-Raja Melayu diipersoalkan samada didalam Dewan Legislative atau diluar Dewan. Jika dilanggar individu-individu yang terlibat boleh dipenjara ‘mandatory’. Menghina Raja-Raja itu adalah penghinaan kepada orang Melayu dan isu itu patut disebut oleh Zaharin. Kenapa hanya Anwar dipersoalkan?

Kalau dibuat intrepitasi mengikut Perlembagaan Persekutuan Dr Mahathir, Anwar, Ghaffar Baba, Najib Tun Razak, Hj Khalid Yunus, Isa Samad, Anwar Musa dan terlalu ramai yang lain sepatutnya telah dipenjarakan dan ditarik semua gelaran kebesaran masing-masing semasa krisis cetusan UMNO (Baru) itu sedang hangat didebatkan oleh setiap lapisan masyarakat semasa itu.

Kepada penggiat politik yang masih berhingus masa itu tentunya tidak ingat dengan sejarah hitam semasa itu. Isu ii diperbesarkan oleh orang Melayu dalam UMNO yang mengampu pimpinan semasa itu dan tidak kedengaran semasa itu kritikkan kepada Raja-Raja Melayu dilakukan oleh bangsa lain.

UMNO telah melakukan penghinaan kepada Raja-Raja Melayu tanpa sempadan dan media letronik dan cetak telah memberikan sokongan agar Raja-Raja Melayu ditamatkan riwayat kewujuddan mereka. Ini sejarah yang begitu baru dan pada siapa yang berumur sebaya atau lebih tua daripada saya tidak akan mampu melupakan insiden hitam yang dihadapi oleh Raja-Raja Melayu sewaktu itu.

Pemimpin-pemimpin kita yang besar dan yang kecil semasa itu telah lupa daratan dan mereka seolah-olah tidak lagi memerlukan institusi Raja-Raja Melayu dan ramai yang bertempik dan bersorak mengkritik Raja-Raja Melayu didalam akhbar-akhbar perdana dan media letronik. Kepada sesiapa yang mushkil dengan kata-kata saya ini elok pergi keArkib Negara dan bacalah setiap berita yang tertulis didalam dada akhbar pada tahun 1993 dan saudara akan terbaca semua yang saya katakan tadi.

UMNO (baru) bersikap lebih buruk dari sikap British Malayan Union yang cuba untuk menurunkan martabat bangsa Melayu dengan mencemuh Raja-Raja mereka. Kalau Malayan Union itu adalah dari kaum Inggeris cuba untuk merendahkan mertabat Raja-Raja Melayu, UMNO (B) pula adalah dari rakyat yang hampir kesemuanya Melayu yang cuba untuk menjatuhkan institusi Raja-Raja Melayu mereka sendiri.

Walaupun pindaan terhadap perlembagaan yang bersabit dengan Raja-Raja tidak dibenarkan namun UMNO tetap memindanya dan itu merupakan penghinaan kepada bangsa Melayu. Semua yang mencadangkan pindaan itu adalah orang-orang yang telah mendapat gelaran dari Raja-Raja dan Zaharin patut mengeluarkan segala-galanya jika benar beliau serius untuk memperjuangkan apa yang kikatakan sebagai ketuanan Melayu.

Jika Zaharin tidak bersikap ‘limau masam sebelah’ elok beliau diberitahu bahawa Fasal 159(5) dan 181(2) telah di’repeal’ oleh UMNO pimpinan Mahathir dan ini merupakan ancaman gila yang tidak ada tolok bandingnya terhadap institusi Melayu yang unggul itu.

Tetapi UMNO mudah lupa; dalam krisis diPerak baru-baru ii UMNO telah menggunakan kuasa yang sikit-sikit berbaki kepada Sultan Perak untuk mengambil alih kerajaan pilihan rakyat dari PR. Barulah sekarang, apabila sudah terdesak UMNO mahu menerima kenyataan yang institusi Raja itu penting.

Sejak dari itu UMNO tidak mahu lari dari berlindung dicelah ketiak Raja Melayu. Bagi sekumpulan kecil dalam UMNO yang tidak bersetuju dengan tindakkan UMNO itu hanya mampu mendiamkan diri sahaja semasa itu tanpa berdaya melakukan sesuatu kerana semasa itu semua ahli-ahli UMNO haya bangun untuk membodek Dr Mahathir bagi kepentingan politik jangka pendek mereka.

Kami bersedih dan terkilan dengan penghinaan yang dilakukan oleh kepimpinan UMNO semasa itu. Semasa itu kami hanya berdoa agar Tuhan memberikan petunjuk terhadap kepimpinan yang sesat barat itu kembali kejalan yang benar.

Alhamdulillah, UMNO sudah sedar tentang pentingnya Raja-Raja Melayu, walaupu hanya setelah mereka hampir mati oleh tindakkan mereka sendiri. ‘BUT, it’s better late than never’ bak kata perbilangan Inggeris yang semua orang tahu.

Sesungguhnya sangat seronok membaca sejarah cetusan Dr Mahathir ini. Masalahnya saya tidak pandai menulis buku. Kalaulah saya seorang penulis buku sejarah, topik ini merupakan topik yang paling utama bagi saya supaya anak muda yang akan datang faham bahawa kita adalah orang Melayu yang telah dipunah ranahkan oleh pemimpin mereka sendiri.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed issued a warning today to Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties against bringing up racial issues, saying that such a move will cost the ruling coalition to lose votes at the ballot box.

The former prime minister gave a stern reminder to BN component parties like MCA, MIC and Gerakan, stressing that BN was a party for all races, and its coalition members needed to stop playing up to each other’s race gallery.

“The problem with some component parties of BN is that in their desire to be popular, they like to bring up racial issues. And that will be negative because you only promote your particular race and others will get annoyed.

“When this happens, they will not support you,” the 85-year old politician bluntly said.

“They (BN component parties) need to know this...BN represents all races, not just one race,” Dr Mahathir told reporters today.

Dr Mahathir’s response today comes shortly after BN concluded its annual convention last weekend, where MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek had shocked his BN colleagues with calling for a ban on the term “ketuanan Melayu.”

In his speech at the BN convention, Dr Chua had made direct references to Umno as he reminded the ruling party that the MCA, and all other component parties, deserved to receive equal recognition as coalition partners.

Dr Chua had told his Umno allies that there should not be a “big brother, small brother” system in the ruling pact.

The veteran politician even took a direct swipe at Umno by pointing out that the MCA was not in agreement with how important government policy decisions were made during Umno supreme council meetings instead in the Cabinet.

The MCA president’s remarks were not well received by many Umno leaders, with Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein saying this week that Dr Chua had upset a number of leaders last weekend with his remarks.

Hishammuddin had said that many had expressed their dissatisfaction that the straight-talking MCA president had used the Barisan Nasional convention over the weekend as a platform to air his grouses against Umno.

Dr Mahathir has also attacked Dr Chua for his firebrand remarks earlier this week, calling it “illogical and baseless.”

“I don’t have to make any reference to which party I am referring to, you know it better than me,” said Dr Mahathir today when asked whether his remarks today were directed towards the MCA.

The former PM also remained unconvinced that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak would call for snap elections by the first quarter of next year.

“I can’t read the PM’s mind, but in my opinion I think we should give ourselves time. We see that people are still not yet settled. I think that the PM would want to make sure that the BN will win with a good majority,” said Dr Mahathir.

Speculation is rife that Najib would call for snap polls by March next year.

He however noted that it was “good” that leaders within BN who had outlived their “usefulness” left the party, in a reference to former MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.

“I think that we all have our useful lives, but there comes a time where we are no longer useful.

“Like me when I am no longer useful I step down,” said Dr Mahathir.

Samy, the longest-serving MIC president, stepped down on Monday, handing over his post to Datuk G. Palanivel.

Many kids have to go for tuition or to private schools because the government schools are bad.

We have to pay IPPs (independent power providers) because the government cannot provide consistent electricity.

We have to pay Indah Water to clean up the sewers.

We have to pay tax on foreign cars because Mahathir wants to keep his dying Proton - his own car company alive.

Most have to drive because the government cannot provide good public transport. We have to pay to sustain the government's affirmative action policies.

We have to pay for private health care because the public hospitals are crowded .

All in all, we have to pay a PREMIUM to stay in this country!

DEC 10 — What kind of person is former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad?

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said Dr M is a racist.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin did not agree with Nazri and said it is rather extreme to label Dr M as a racist.

However, Dr M admitted: “I must be a racist if Nazri says I am racist.”

In his view, as a member of a racial political party, Nazri should not fight against racism. Otherwise, he should resign from the party.

According to Dr M's logic, all Umno members must be racists or they have to resign from Umno.

I can't imagine if Dr M's words are completely true.

As I said, I hope that Nazri won't be the lone voice in Umno, as it represents openness, tolerance and eagerness to make progress.

But I can't see any other Umno elite coming forward to support Nazri and criticise Dr M.Dr M always bears racism in mind as it is indeed a tool that is cheap and good to use.

During the 22-year rule of Dr M, policies that he implemented had a far-reaching impact on the country. To be fair, he made contributions but at the same time, he also did some things inappropriate.

And it is in fact a very controversial issue to say whether his contributions are greater than his wrongdoings or his wrongdoings ares greater than his contribution.Frankly speaking, Dr M is a very controversial former political leader.

Many people write about him. The Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) in Singapore had promoted a new book entitled “Malaysian Maverick: Mahathir Mohamad in Turbulent Times”.

The book has been recognised as the most independent and comprehensive biography of Dr M that explores his ruling style. It is written by Asian Wall Street Journal former editor Barry Wain.

According to Singapore media reports, Wain criticised in his book that “Dr M had undermined state institutions, permitted the spread of corruption and failed to provide for Malaysia’s future leadership”.

Wain also said that Malaysia had squandered an estimated RM100 billion on financial scandals under the 22-year rule of Dr M.

He also said that Dr M had intervened and controlled the judiciary, making the judiciary serve him.

The book also mentioned how Dr M weakened the country and non-governmental organisations, practised cronyism, pursued huge construction projects, undermined the monarchy and destroyed his successors.

Perhaps, Wain may help us to know about a more realistic Dr M but he may also offend some people, causing a backlash.

Dr M oversaw PKFZ land valuation By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — Former transport minister Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik appeared to pass the buck over the costing and valuation of the Port Klang Free Trade Zone (PKFZ) land to his former boss, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. In the verbatim of the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) meeting procedures released yesterday, Ling said his ministry could only “state the fact that we wanted the land.”

However, Ling pointed out that the costing and valuation of the land was determined by the Valuation and Property Services Department (JPPH) which was chaired by former prime minister and finance minister, Dr Mahathir. “Our job in Ministry of Transport is to only state the fact that we want the land. Costings, valuations and all that, it is not the function of the Ministry of Transport. We do not have a Valuation Department. “Costings and valuations is a question for the Treasury to deal with. They have the Valuation Department and everything is there, not in Ministry of Transport. I think Tun Dr Mahathir who chaired it, and he was the Finance Minister also. He saw it very clearly. That was the fact of the case,” he said in the verbatim. Dr Mahathir has remained relatively silent on the scandal which could cost taxpayers RM12.453 billion. The PAC recommended yesterday that former transport minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy and former Port Klang Authority (PKA) general manager Datin Paduka OC Phang be investigated for criminal breach of trust in the PKFZ scandal. PAC reported that the government would have spent RM442.13 and saved RM645.87 million if the land had been acquired for PKFZ in accordance with the Land Acquisition Act 1960. It also reported that the cost of the land was RM47.76 per square foot, or 67 per cent higher than the RM25 fixed by the JPPH. The 405ha PKFZ transhipment hub, which has warehouses, office blocks and a four-star hotel, has been dogged by controversy ever since it was revealed that its original development cost had ballooned from less than RM2.5 billion to up to RM4.6 billion. There were also questions about the possible kickbacks after it was disclosed that several individuals acquired the piece of land where the PKFZ now sits at RM3 per sq ft in 1999. Dr Mahathir had said that he heard that the project was being plagued by problems but claimed that nobody reported to him of any wrongdoing. PKFZ ran into further problems when the management company, Jebel Ali Free Zone International, terminated its contract in 2007. Chan was dropped as Barisan Nasional candidate for the last general election and subsequently lost his job largely due to the way the PKFZ debacle was handled. PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) also reported that the project outlay of RM4.947 billion will go up to RM7.453 billion due to interest payments and Port Klang Authority (PKA) must restructure the loan or it will balloon to RM12.453 billion by 2051.

BANGI, Aug 1 – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today admitted that he still does not understand what “1 Malaysia” means, a concept introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in an attempt to foster national unity.

“I admit that I still do not fully understand what is ‘1 Malaysia’, I am worried people will assume ‘1 Malaysia’ is ‘Malaysian Malaysia’” said Mahathir when asked by an Umno member at a forum on the position of the Malays here.

“I think a study needs to be done, and explanation must be given, on the effect of such slogans,” he added.“

Many people have asked me. But most people support it because it came from the No 1 leader,” he said.Dr Mahathir explained how Islam Hadhari, introduced by former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Badawi, is no longer discussed as a result of failure to explain the concept.

“Now nobody talks about Islam Hadhari, because we are confused, for five years they try to explain Islam Hadhari, but nobody understands,” said Dr Mahathir.

“But Malaysia Boleh is easy, everyone understands, because we can,” he added, referring to the slogan introduced during his administration.
