Pakatan Rakyat Convention - 10 resolutions

Pakatan Rakyat Convention - 10 resolutions

You won't get this in the newspapers

The Pakatan Rakyat convention in Penang sent an unmistakable and chilling signal to arch rivals - Prime Minister Najib Razak and the Umno-BN coalition. Despite a roller coaster journey since sweeping to power in the 2008 general election, Pakatan has not been diminished by the enmity and malice unleashed by its political opponents, but has been able to mature and grow stronger in the process.

Indeed, the star-studded conference hall was packed with the likes of PAS president Hadi Awang, Mujahid Yusof Rawa, PKR president Wan Azizah, Selangor Mentri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and Karpal Singh.

Pakatan delegates and other members of the public who wanted to meet their 'reformasi' heroes were spoiled for choice. DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who is also Penang Chief Minister, played host to the 2,000-strong
Crowd at the convention.

Racial policies rejected, preliminary 10-point manifesto unveiled.

In a rousing opening address, Guan Eng warned Prime Minister Najib Razak's Umno party not to 'hijack' the federal constitution and misinterpret the controversial Article 153 to divide the ethnic groups in the country.

"Somehow Umno always fails to mention that Article 153 also states that the legitimate interests of other communities must also be protected, Guan Eng said.

Guan Eng also unveiled a ten-point document to be signed by all the top Pakatan leaders and which is set to become the coalition's preliminary manifesto in the coming general election. The resolutions outline in detail the changes Pakatan will introduce within the first 100 days of its taking over Putrajaya if it wins the next general election expected to be held early next year.

The resolutions are:

1. A restructure of institutions including the Elections Commission (EC), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the Attorney-General's Chambers and the Royal Malaysian Police. During a debate on the policy framework, DAP's Anthony Loke requested PR bring the MACC under the purview of Parliament.

2. A repeal of the Internal Security Act (ISA)

3. Instruct Khazanah Berhad, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and other government bodies to take over highway assets from the concessionaires in order to abolish the toll system.

4. A restructure of the country's subsidies, to lessen subsidies given to the private sector (such as the RM19 billion in gas subsidies given to independent power producers) and transferring these to subsidies for the
Man on the street.

5. Acknowledging the role and sacrifices of civil servants by studying the current pay schemes and increasing the incentives for teachers by RM500 a month

6. Transferring private water concessions to the government

7. Offering free wireless Internet access to those in urban and semi-urban
Areas

8. Cancelling Felda Plantations and opening up its farms to second- and third generation Felda settlers.

9. Increasing oil royalty payments to Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu and Kelantan to 20 per cent from 5 per cent currently.
10. Formation of a Royal Commission to solve the problem of illegal immigrants and citizenship issues in Sabah and Sarawak .

? May I add No. ? 11. To abolish the RM50 govt. Tax on the use of credit card. This tax is absolutely nonsense and unnecessary. We use credit card so as not to carry large amount of cash for our own safety. Now, by imposing this tax, the government is forcing us to carry large amount of cash thereby endangering our lives.? ?

Don't pump gas on April,15th 2011

Don't pump gas on April,15th 2011

The current price of Ron 97 in Malaysia is RM 2.70 per litre. There had been an increase of RM 0.20 per litre! I know that it is dirty cheap as compared to a similar product sold in, let's say, Australia or Singapore. But in relation to the income that a person can generate in a place like Kuching, that is a very high price to pay for an essential item.

If we are able to say no collectively, we may be heard.

Original message:

I think this could really hit the oil companies where it hurts if we all pass this message along.

Begin forwarded message:

In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest
of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On April 15th 2011, all Internet users are asked to not go to a gas
station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.50 a liter in most places.
If running low, just get your gas the day before on April 14 or the
day after on April 16. Every little bit helps.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies pockets
for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on April 15th and
let's try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one
day.

If you agree (which I can't see why you wouldn't) SHARE this to all
your contact list. With it saying,
"Don't pump gas on April 15th"

Sex, offensive

Sex, offensive
March 23, 2011MARCH 23 — There is a video somewhere. Not many have seen it, but it seemingly exists. In the video, a man alleged to be a senior Malay politician from the opposition was filmed having sex with a woman, supposedly a prostitute.

That man is supposedly Anwar Ibrahim. The same Anwar Ibrahim who, lest we forget, is already in a trial for allegedly penetrating another man’s rectum six times. Or maybe more, maybe less.

This video is claimed to be in the possession of a man who prefers to only be known as Datuk T.

The video was taken from the output of four different cameras, most likely well-hidden in a hotel room. From what has been reported, it is safe to assume that the man in the video did not know he was being filmed.

The same cannot be said of the woman, since she apparently stole an Omega watch belonging to the man who she had just had sex with, and the very same watch was then displayed by Datuk T to his audience.

Ah yes, his audience.

He made a press conference to announce this, in fact. To announce that he has this video, and that he would send it to the politician in a week, after which he expects the politician and his wife to resign. One assumes the resignations are for all political posts that they hold. Or to just be resigned.

This Datuk T… is a nasty, nasty piece of work.

Now, in a reasonable world, Datuk T should already be in the slammer, or at the very least brought in for questioning. Regardless of whether the man in the video is Anwar Ibrahim, or some pot-bellied simile of him, Datuk T has confessed to being in possession of something that is in gross violation of a person’s privacy.

Irrespective of whether the intercourse was sinful or otherwise, the persons involved in recording the act should be considered, in a reasonable world, as the ones who are wronged first and foremost.

That is where the investigation should start. That is where the condemnation should begin from.

In a reasonable world, we shouldn’t have to check the hotel room we’re in for hidden cameras. There is already one hotel in Batu Pahat that we know we shouldn’t be going to. Now, there’s apparently another in a location as yet unspecified.

But it seems that we don’t live in a reasonable world. Or rather, not in a reasonable country. Because at the moment, Datuk T is still out and about. He’s also called for an “independent public commission” comprising of NGOs and members of the media, to do forensics on the video. This is to ostensibly to verify the authenticity and provenance of it.

Which particular NGOs were not mentioned, though one can assume it wouldn’t be the likes of Sisters In Islam, or the World Wildlife Fund.

Meanwhile, the authorities are not exactly doing anything to Datuk T. Not yet, anyway, though one hopes that they will soon.

Apparently, there will be a special police unit to investigate the claims made in a police report by Anwar, under section 292 of the Penal Code for possession and distribution of pornographic material.

But it’s not porn. It’s just someone who was engaged in a sexual activity with another person and didn’t know he was being filmed.

No, we don’t live in a reasonable country.

And that Datuk T… a nasty, nasty piece of work.

There is no dilemma, Malays just need to work harder like other races

Thursday, February 10, 2011
There is no dilemma, Malays just need to work harder like other races.

How much more abuse should Malays receive from the likes of Mahathir and the Umno elite?

First. Former Prime minister Mahathir Mohamad told us that the country belonged to the Malays and everyone else had to accept the culture and language of the dominant community.

He said, This country belongs to the Malay race. Peninsular Malaysia was known as Tanah Melayu but this cannot be said because it will be considered racist. We must be sincere and accept that the country is Tanah Melayu

Second. Mahathir said that Malays will feel less threatened if the country adopted the concept of Bangsa Malaysia. According to him, Bangsa Malaysia would allow better co-operation between the different races and thus guarantee the future of the country.

Third. Mahathir said that the race affirmative programmes such as the New Economic Policy (NEP) were still important as the Malays were still weak economically.

We must not reject every government effort to help us. We must push away the crutches and realise that we are still limping.

Mahathir has not disappointed us. He is as divisive as ever and many Malays, his target audience, simply cling onto every word.

So, when will Malays understand that this man is insulting our intelligence?

Mahathir made the comments during his talk Malay race and the future", at the Tun Hussein Onn Memorial. He is insulting the memory of Hussein Onn who was called Bapa Perpaduan for his unceasing efforts in promoting racial unity.

Where is our integrity and Malay pride that we continually allow him to abus! e us? He tells us this is our land and at the same time manages to insult us by saying we are too stupid and incapable to hang onto it.

He said the Malay community may risk losing the country without the affirmative action policies.

He alluded to this: Which is better? To be dependent on policies which will save us or depend on others hoping that they will save us? Sooner or later, we will be under their rule.

When he said that the Malays owned Tanah Melayu, he callously ignored the Orang Asli, the Sarawakians and Sabahans. He managed also to slight the non-Malays without whose help, we would not have gained our independence from the British.

Why are Malays condoning the various acts of discrimination?

Isnt it time we took charge of this country, wrestle it from the likes of Mahathir and others like him, and tell them that their ingrained prejudices against non-Malays and non-Muslims are unacceptable?

Mahathir claims we are weak. Why do we continue to take orders from a non-Malay?

Why do the majority of Malays keep quiet when racist leaders divide us?

At some point in time, Malays must alter their mindset. Now, would be perfect.

We have been conditioned for decades by leaders who only wanted to promote their own interests.

They told us we were weak and that we could not think for ourselves.

They offered to do the thinking for us and make decisions on our behalf.

They softened us with their policies which made us lazy and gave us incentives which meant we need not work as hard.

They denied us a good solid education and flip-flopped in between policies. They broke up the mission schools which was once the bedrock of education.

They encouraged large families and allowed polygamous husbands to proliferate and act irresponsibly, so that many children lacked a father figure and thus were denied a solid family unit. Single mothers had to manage on one income and struggled to support their children. Some chil! dren bec ame feral. Large families lacked adequate health-care.

These Umno leaders control the Malay mind. They realise the importance of influence over the Malays.

They dominate and control the Malays, by keeping us in a hopeless and continually pessimistic state. That is what Najib, Mahathir and the other leaders are doing to us.

First, they frighten us and second, they demoralise us.

It is all about power. Control the Malays and power is all theirs.

These uninspiring leaders cannot afford to lose their domination over the Malays.

Without the weak Malays, they are nothing.

They know that educated, healthy and confident Malays are much harder to govern.
